Im trying to guess how much "they" pay you for this....

1. I tried Chesky record 24bit/192khz source with D1, headphones Shenneheiser HD580. Three audiophiles tested D1 vs laptopt headphones output - noone received any difference.

2. Used RCA on $100,000 amp + speakers - nothing changed in sound.

3. Device doesnt work with 3m (10ft) expensive and usb 2.0 certified cable. Support of D1 just ignored request.

Results - pure waste of money for that device.

Actually I'm not a professional reviewer, which you can see clearly by looking at my Youtube efforts. I saw the promos many times on Stereophile and the price was good, so I purchased it. Then I got the Headstreamer and Dragonfly too. All three sound pretty much the same to be, and clearly better than a typical Apple laptop or Dell etc. desktop headphone out. With the D1 I use a short 18 inch USB cable, and a variety of headphones. I've never used the D1's analog output or optical input. My source material varies widely - some Chesky, some of Cookie Marenco's recordings, some of the Elusive Disc CD's. I can't claim any special audio expertise, but if requested to test a particular device I have on hand with a recording that's available that I can purchase, and report the exact results here, I'm happy and willing to do that.
