Gas prices double in just three years under Obama

When George W. Bush left office the economy was well on the way to collapse. So in a way, as your last sentence implied, we can indeed thank president Bush for the low price of gas at that time.

I'm all for opening up all U.S. lands to oil drilling, and every new permit should get instant approval. That way, the oil companies can continue the current trend of increasing exports of crude, and oil based fuels to other countries, thus keeping prices, and profits up.  I'll be long gone by the time the country pays the toll for drilling everywhere. I doubt it will have much effect on U.S. gas prices though. There is no shortage of gasoline in the U.S., that's why oil companies are exporting 1.8 million barrels a day of it to Mexico, Canada, the Netherlands, Chile, and Singapore.

I'm afraid the the only reliable way to get gas prices to fall is another downturn in the economy, just as when George W. Bush was president. You remember, the George W. Bush recession of 2007-2008.

A steady upward trend in gas prices during the Bush administration, with a hard dip at the end when W's buddys collapsed the economy.

Souless Train has just posted his latest in a long series of regurgitated talk radio drivel. He can't help it that he's a dumbass hillbilly and believes that shit. He's bummed out because his hero Uncle Herman Cain went down the political toilet. He applied for the job of sucking Herm's dick and was rejected. Maybe we should take up a collection and send Souless a nice fruit basket.

It is about time a couple of fucking liberals show some backbone after such a long period of exodus and self imposed exhile.  I guess that little Georgetown slut motived you all.  Now, let me get this right.  We are back to, "It is all George Bush's fault"?  What a fucking joke.  Like the Chevy Volt.

That reply was a bunch of nothing. At least the original post in this thread might have had a point. Telling us that gas prices are rising I think.

"a dumbass hillbilly"...

Re-read your post. And we are to assume you're intelligent? I see you're from Wisconsin..... Home of the socialist labor movement. I rest my case.

Dr. Spivey just posted a typical response that a mind-numbed, left-wing ideolog would post who can't name one single accomplishment of his man Obama.

A bunch of mindless name-calling. Nothing substative. No facts. The usual from an obamazombie.

So which one of these geniuses are you Spivey? Of course, it really doesn't matter when you're a 'group think' type.

First, gas prices are rising because of a number of factors, including increasing world demand - China especially: also because of speculative practices by the oil-futures markets (albeit because of uncertainty in the Gulf): and because nobody really cares - SUV and pickup sales are at an all-time high, we are exporting more oil, as a percentage of production, than we have since 1949, and electric and hybrid vehicle sales are beginning to plummet. We are our own worst enemy, and that's not something you can hang on the Dems - Obama in particular - or the Grand Old Tea Party. We all need to wake up, but I fear it may already be too late.

I truly hope that war with Iran can be avoided, but it doesn't seem likely at this time. Sign the petition in my post of March 6th!

I halfway agree with you on the 'nobody cares' part. We the people care, but the media could care less. Now if a Republican were in office, the media would be orgasming over high gas prices, and Democrat Henry Waxman would be demanding a committee investigation. Remember all the "pain at the pump" segments that were ran by the mainstream media when W. Bush was in office?

So it's natural the media would be silent...thier man Obama is in the White House, Simple.

Bob, Obama appointed Mr. Chu to head-up the Dept. of Energy after Mr. Chu announced that he wanted the U.S. gas prices to rise to equal Europe's prices. And you think Obama is not culpable?? Why would Obama appoint this man if he didn't agree with him??

Furthermore Obama has shut down a record number of coal fired plants and even admitted that 'under his plan energy costs would necessarily skyrocket.'

Of course, his plan was to subsidize 'green technologies' like Solyndra, Lightsquared, Amonix, and a parent company of EnerDel namely, Ener1 that filed for bankruptsy just to name a few that have all failed. But before they all filed for bankruptsy, huge bonuses were given to the owners. $725,000 to three executives of Ener1... Thats sick! But wait a minute....wasn't it the leftist media that was soooo outraged about the huge bonuses that were issued to AIG and other companies after they filed for bankruptsy while W. Bush was in office?? Imagine that. Billions wasted in crony capitalism between Obama and his 'green' technology companies that went belly-up subsequently shafting the American taxpayer and the media is dead silent.

The Federal Goverment.has absolutely no business picking winners and losers in a free-market economy. But, then again. we haven't enjoyed a free-market economy since the 1950's, and it wasn't really free back then if the truth be known.

Now think, those billions of dollars could have went toward the Canadian pipeline and oil exploration right here at home that we know would have created jobs and gave us some autonomy away from OPEC. That's jobs. That's energy independence and unfortunately that is contrary to Obama and his Energy Sec. Henry Chu, who by the way, doesn't even own a car! and neither does Obama. Political privalege includes free lifetime transportation anyway. In Obama's case, a lifetime of chauffeured limos that will  carry him to deliver $300,000 speeches at community colleges after he leaves office, which hopefully will be this year.

More importantly, are you still interested in Romney? I know you expressed some interest in him awhile back.

Mark

Obama keeps saving we are drilling, my question WHERE, answer its' being exported people. In both December and February, the U.S. sold 54,000 more barrels a day. So Obama-man is not lying he's just not telling you where it's going.

We're drilling in all the same old places.  Like here in the Permian Basin.  The problem is the plants.  We have not constructed a new plant to prcoess gasoline since the 1970s.  How can we possibly keep up with demand using frozen fixed manufacturing assets from the 1970s?  We are still exploring and you can still drill but not in new areas.  Same old basins just new wells.  It is easy for Obama to say we are still drilling and leave it at that.  Just political slight of hand.  Only part of the real information.  The USA gets most of its oil imports from Canada not the Middle East.  It really doesn't matter to Canada or the Middle East  if we explore and drill in new areas to keep up with our own demands.  Canada and the Middle East have plenty of other customers.  What most people don't realize is that (1) oil is not all fossil fuel, and (2) there is an unbelievable amount of untapped oil in the USA.  The former meaning oil is not a use and lose resource as once thought and the latter meaning we can sustain our own demand without imports or at least at our current levels of imports.  Oil is all about politics.  The science and the production is the red headed step child of oil demand in the USA.  If there wasn't so much money in the black gold the science and the production would cease to exist.  So politicians play their games and the scientists and the manufacturing process gets kicked in the ass because they still make money.

All the more reason to advocate free market solutions.

When Jimmy Carter created the Department of NoEnergy, that was when it all went to hell. The un-elected bureaucrats have destroyed our ability to survey, drill, and build new refineries, thus, killing jobs.

Question: Why is the obama administration still declaring a moritorium on all offshore drilling after the Deep Water Horizon disaster of April 20, 2010?

Answer: Un-elected bureaucrats in the Dept. of Energy. Primarily Secretary Henry Chu, the one who wants gas prices to equal Europes $9.00/gal. average, This ain't rocket science, just pure anti-capitalism at it's core.

Henry Chu = Idiot

Since it's them who are selling gasoline overseas at higher prices, and raising our prices here because they can.

They want Obama out so they can make more money on the North Dakota oil, raise the gas price even more in the midwest, and build their pipeline so they can sell that overseas, too.

That's exactly and all that's happening.  If you vote against Obama, you're helping them mess you over.

Your choice.
