Since I can't figure out to edit my post, I realized I forgot to include that I am going to buy Cerwin Vega VE-5C for my center speakers.

I bought the Cerwin Vega VE-5C for $99. I have spent 353 dollars on the Denon 1611 Receiver and the VE-5C center speakers.

I am now heavily consindering the Dayton 120 12 inch sub for the bass. Along with the Pioneer SP BS41 speakers to finish off the front half of this 7.1 setup to hold me over until I can afford to purchase the rest of it.

and it is likely that you will have less than satisfactory results. But what can one expect with such a budget? Good luck, you seem to be on your way to something. What it is, I can't be sure of.

You should have a timbral match between your front and center speakers which would suggest a pair of Cerwin Vega VE 5M speakers which can serve as your front speakers until they go to surround duty to be replaced by a pair of Cerwin Vega VE 8Fs. Either that or return the Cerwin Vega VE 5C and get the Pioneer SP-C21 center channel speaker to go with the SP-B41s. Then when you can afford it the SP-41s can go to surround duty to be replaced with a pair of Pioneer SP-F51-LRs for the fronts. The Pioneer SP-F51, SP-C21 and SP-B41 are very competent speakers for an entry level home theater.

The Dayton SUB-120 is about as good as one can do for $100-$200. It is not a true home theater subwoofer as it cannot reproduce low frequency effects below 25Hz.

You will need some 16 or 14 gauge speaker wire to hook the speakers up and possibly an HDMI cable to connect a Bluray player.

Why?  The center should match the L/R speakers as closely as possible and I sincerely doubt that the CV VE-5C sounds much like the Pioneers.

Why can't you mix and match center speakers with the front left and right speakers?

My a/v receiver has the technology to adjust all the speakers to fit each other with a mic.

I have read several reviews of the vega ve-5c mixing well with other satellite speakers.

I have decided with the http://www.amazon.com/Sony-SA-W3000-Subwoofer-Each-Black/dp/B000OL22T2/ref=sr_1_3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1329361667&sr=1-3 as my sub.

should be a timbral match with the right and left front speakers, and less importantly the surrounds. The Audyssey MultEQ only adjusts the sound level, it cannot make speakers more compatible, and I doubt the VE 5C mixes well with most other kinds of speakers. Another suggestion - Don't come to a forum and ask for advice and then argue with or contest the advise you are given.

Sorry I didn't mean to argue. It is just why is my stereo compromised? Are the Vega's that much worse than the Pioneers?

Sorry for scolding, wasn't too nice was it? If I were you I'd consider a complete set of the Pioneers designed by Andrew Jones. SP-F51-LR, SP-C21, and SP-BS41-LR They really will sound much better than the Cerwin Vegas.

Since it looks like the Pioneer is that much better, I guess I can pay the return shipping and just get the c21 and two bs41's. Do you have any other sub recommendations?

If not I will probably settle for that until I am wanting to upgrade my system.

The specs are inflated, no way that sub is going to produce signficant sound levels at 20hz. If you want good bass from a subwoofer it will cost you at least $300. Perhaps you could look at used subwoofer that can provide the performance you seek.

Which subwoofers should I try and find used then?
