As for the whole warm vs bright thing, I've never really figured out what it meant. I know warm is more prominent in the low frequencies and bright is more prominent in the high frequences, but I can't seem to translate that into sound...if that makes sense.

my ears and preferences, or anyone elses, are probably different than yours. You gotta listen for yourself. Good Luck!

In my mind the best one there in many ways is the PSB Alpha B1. Almost every magazine in the hi-fi world has gone crazy over it.

I assume that you have already read the Stereophile review on it.

The big reservation I have about it is that it only goes down to 65 Hz. If you can live with that it would be first choice.

Now that I have said all of that, the one I would probably BUY would be the Wharfdale Diamond 10.1, because I like the fact that it goes down to 48 Hz, and the recent Stereophile review was very positive.

I couldn't live with the lack of bass of the Alpha B1.

I don't know what part of the L.A. area you are in, but Atlantic Stereo in Costa Mesa is the store that sells Wharfedale. (949) 646-8895

This just shows that I should trust my gut feeling. I found the Diamond 10.1's for 400$ including shipping and the Evo2-8's for $334 including shipping, so I went ahead and bought the Evo's. Here's to hoping I don't regret my decision, since I'm pretty prone to changing my mind, haha.

I'm gonna wait a few weeks and replace the stock cartridge with the Denon DL-110 as well, thanks guys!

also, one last question (technically two). this is my system, and I've bought everything except the cartridge. I just feel a bit uneasy since I haven't seen anyone with a system that's similar to mine (Denon table, NAD amp, Wharfedale speakers) and that makes me wonder, is it a bad combination? by bad combination, I'm asking will the Nad work with the Wharfedale speakers and the Denon TT?

Denon DP-300F - $225 (used without cartridge)
Denon DL-110 - $146 (new)
NAD C315BEE - $225 (used)
Wharfedale Pacific Evo2-8 - $335 (pair)

Total: $931

and does anyone have suggestions for good cables? How many do I need? (It seems like once I finally think I'm done with the system and can listen to my records, I realize that it's not and I need another component, haha)

edit: I know I said I'd wait a few weeks, but I just bought the cartridge on impulse. I guess all that's left is cables now.
