One item you might consider, though it would stretch your budget, is the Logitech Squeezebox Touch. It's gotten tremendous reviews from Stereophile and elsewhere both for features and for sound quality. I'm like you, looking for a simple music server without video capabilities or superfluous bells and whistles. Squeezebox plays Pandora, Spotify (a big plus for me), internet radio and can stream locally stored music from your PC as well.
Amazon has it for US $230 right now. Not sure what it would be in European markets, but it may well be worth a look.
