1) Channel D's Pure Music. It's a full-fledged and wholly useful thing for Mac users, unlike Decibel and the other playlist-only apps.

2) tc electronics Impact Twin. (ugly/scary-looking and pro audio gear, so won't be formally mentioned in Stereophile, sorry) FireWire 24/192 ADC, DAC (and more) for a street price under $400.

Bonus: $25 Grado service charge to patch up my original SR60 set.

Pure Music and J-River software....and, as a surprise, music on my Droid 3 using the Poweramp App (I think it sounds a good bit better than the same files on my iPOD). I am also pleased with my E-bay purchase of an ancient set of Monsoon computer speakers.

We've announced ours. What are your favorite products of 2011? What were the products that got you most excited, brought you the most musical pleasure, or made you want to rob a bank? What were the products that most surprised, disappointed, or confounded you?

Pretty excited over the Classe' CA-M400 monoblocks. Those will be my next upgrade.

Although, the product(s) that make me want to rob a bank, would no doubt be the new Boulder 3050 monoblocks and the new MBL 1531 Cd player.

After Fremer's more than entusiastic review (plus accolades from other magazines/websites), I find it hard to imagine how/why the Vandersteen Sevens did not even make runners-up in the loudspeakers category......

Hi MrBean,

The Vandersteen Model 7s were not included in the 2011 Product of the Year listing because they were reviewed in the March Issue of 2010. In that year, they were beat out by the greatly enthused Wilson Audio Sasha W/P for loudspeaker of the year, but the Model 7s were mentioned as a runner up for 2010.
