Boy oh boy hmmmm I must first say I have never owned or hell yet heard a piece of Emotiva but I have been to their website to snoop and it appears to be high value oriented products .
I have actually wondered / hoped that when Emotiva gets around to next generation of product and that they drop the gawdy ching po look and mellow it out a little bit .
I would never buy any component just because it looked nice , it would have to sound damn good as well .
I would buy a product that looked plain jane again if it sounded damn good .
I would never buy a gawdy lookin ching po bling ? I think that might describe the look component even if it did sound damn good .
Once again Emotiva might be good gear and if I were 12 I might really like the look .
when I am listening to music, but I don't think much about it as the sound carries me away.
I think next generation will be toned down a bit , but thatz jus my guess

The Music Hall cd15.2 is also affordable and has good bang for the buck. The NAD C515BEE (mentioned above) is also a great player. I use both of these. Also worth looking into might be the Cambridge Audio 350C & 550C although I haven't heard them.

The Cambridge 650C for $500 is probably the best you can get with that price limitation. It is very nice for the price.
The next step up in sound quality would be the Marantz SA-8004, which is very very good and is also an SACD player as well (but is $999). If you could afford this...it would sound wonderful with that Bryston amp, which is absolutely excellent; wise choice there!! You can build a fine system around it.
I often order stuff from Audio Advisor (they carry all of the Cambridge and NAD stuff), because I can try it for 30 days and if I decide to return it within 30 days, the only cost is the return shipping; full refund is given with no BS and no hassle.
(I am NOT NOT in any way connected with Audio Advisor...lol; I just often find them very convenient because of the gear they carry and their nice return policy)
So...try one out and see if you like when you get it in your system. You seem to have a very fine amp and speakers, so a good CD player ought to really complete the package. Enjoy!
