ART DJ Pre II?  Another over achiever like the AT PEQ-3 at about the same price. Selectable capacitance and adjustable gain allows it to help a variety of cartridges.  If you have the cash and it is a good match for your cartridge the Bellari VP-130 is hard to beat.

I just looked it at amazon, and it seems to be nice by the reviews. Actually I wasn't expecting to spend like $100, because I don't have a nice system to go with a higher end pre amp, but since the AT-PEQ3 was discontinued I wasn't seing another choice. I have an old turntable that is not audiphile by any means, (I had plans to buy a Rega RP1, but I will have to postpone that). I will be using my turntable with a AT95E stylus, connected to M-Audio AV40 speakers. Do you think the ART DJ Pre II Phono Preamp will be a good choice?
And how the capacitance choice and gain works? What benefits do I get from these features?

Thanks!

allows one to better match the signal to a particular phono cartridge.  If you were looking at the ATPEQ-3 before, this would be a good alternative.

I have two systems at two houses, both with Music Hall turntables and Benz Micro cartridges.

One system has the Audio Research PH-5 phono stage  which used to go for $2000 list when I bought it. The other one has the MF $150 phono stage, and sounds almost as good.

The MF phono stage is a fantastic value and really performs well. I haven't heard the Cambridge, so can't say anything about it; but I sure can recommend the MF.

I was planning to buy an Audio Technica AT-PEQ3, but it seems that it's gone for good, since lpgear and needledoctor no longer has it. I found it elsewhere at the internet, but at a higher price (over $80). So I was thinking between Musical Fidelity V-LPS and the Cambridge Audio 540P. Which one would you recommend? Or any other recommendations for this price range? A Bellari or the Rek-o-kut, maybe? Thanks![/quote]
