it would be good to know the characteristics of your listening room and what kind of music and sound you like, including loudness.

What will be your source? Turntable, CD player, digital files?

If you don't have a real big room you could use an Emotiva UPA-2 power amp (on sale for $299 delivered).  However, you would also need a preamp such as the Emotiva USP-1 ($449) or if you are using a digital source (computer or digital output from a CD player) you could use an Emotiva XDA-1 ($299 delivered).  You certainly don't need or want an AV receiver if you want a two channel music listening system.

Let us know a little more about where, how and what regarding your listening expectations.  Welcome!

Thanks very much  for the comment.

My living room is not too big now but I will be moving to a bigger place in a couple of years so I kind of need the amp to be powerful I think. I listen to electronic music but also a lot of classical music. I like to play it very loud too. Iwas thinking of using a quality CD player as the source.

The speakers would be just for playing music from a CD player. For HT I've got Mirage MX 5.1 with Denon AVR which is for now sufficient.

If you have any suggestions regarding the setup, please let me know. I want the speakers and the AMP to do a really good job:) ( I have a budget of around $1000 for the AMP)

Many thanks

which Emotiva represents. You could run the CD player's digital outputs through an Emotiva XDA-1 ($299 delivered) which can act as a preamp as it has a remote volume control.  Then certainly the Emotiva XPA-2 with 300 wpc would provide enough juice to make those Paradigms sing.

Again, the Emotiva USP-1 would also be an option for a preamp.

Some of the integrated amplifiers coming from China are good performers as well. Dassun V8i or V6i, Jungson JA88D, Shanling A300.

Cambridge Audio Azur 740A and NAD C356BEE are possibilities.
