The Super Zeros require a sub -- they produce almost no bass whatsoever -- so you can reasonably think of them as a $500/system, including the sub. Still, at this price, they offer good value, especially if you have strict size limitations. They're imaging wizards, they're tiny, and they look good, too.

The Pioneers are different. Depending on the size of your room, you may not need to add a sub -- in my small room (13' x 10.5' x 8'), they were fine on their own. For the price, the Pioneers are crazily sophisticated, enjoyable speakers, but, at 8" x 14" x 9", they're not exactly small -- unlike the NHTs, you can't just place them anywhere.
