Bryston BDP-1 is an all-in-one "digital audio player" (DAP). Not sure why Bryston pushes it to be used with their outboard DACs. Given the "rave" reviews other Bryston digital products have rec'd on this and other sites/rags, the subjective and (especially) mertics should be interesting.

Larry Greenhill received a sample of the BDP1 last Monday for a Stereophile review to appear in the spring.

Meant to add that the reason Bryston recommends using the BDP-1 with an outboard D/A processor is that the BDP-1 doesn't have any analog outputs, just digital.

Not sure why, then, Bryston calls it a Digital PLAYER (and not transport)? Sounds awfully "markety" to me.
To rely on SPDIF digital connection is a sonic compromise, IMO.
The QLS line also started calling their SD Card WAV transport (model 550) a "player". Their follow up, model 350, improved on the 550 and had a DAC-IC and output circuit (so a true digital PLAYER).
The QLS players also have PCB footprints for I2S out(the only acceptable digital interconnection "standard", IMO).
