When you say "I get two or three separate files with the tracks spread about." do you mean that the files are placed in different folders in you ITunes Media folder? If so then you need to look at your tagging. ITunes arranges music in the Media folder by artists and then within that by album. So if you have different artists in the artist tag then the songs will be placed in different folders. You can fix this by either checking the compilation box in the Options tab of the get info box or by assigning the same album artist to all the tracks. It is all in the Metadata. Important to get that correct from the get go.

Oh and it is an IMac, not an IMAC.

That answered my question....

Now I have a couple of iMac questions...

1. When I load a CD for ripping, I get a 'CD' icon pop up and a screen with the track info. I also get a pop up that asks if I want to rip the CD. If I say yes, it rips the entire CD. If I say no, one of two things happens...it either makes the pop up go away and lets me select the tracks I want to rip OR, the pop up goes away, the list of tracks goes away, and the CD icon goes away. There seems to be no reason for the difference. If I eject the CD and reload, the CD icon, track list and pop up reappears. I click 'no' on the pop up and it always lets me select tracks to rip...

2. Related issue..I have a 'C drive' icon on my screen. It has always been there since I bought the machine. Under the icon it gives me a total drive size "232GB' and what appears to be an available number. When the available number is what the drive really has to play with, say 200GB, the problem with having to double load a CD goes away. When it is wrong, as in under 1GB, which seems to appear after a while in normal use, I have to double load the CD.

Using iStat pro at any time in the process advises I have around 230GB on the drive and over 200GB free...

The question, why do I get different free drive readings and how to I fix the one that appears on the drive icon???
