We get requests all the time from readers who want to know what audio components others have purchased. What we're looking for is a description of what loudspeaker products you own and why you like them. Here goes . . .

I'v got Refer242ex speakers. Speakers are hand made in finland by using finnish birsh. Elements are from seas. crossover is made by using high-end components. The sound of speakers are really brigth and clear. Speakers are tested in finnish hifi magazine Hifi in 1994.
After hearing some great new speakers (from Totem, B & W, JM Labs, et al.) I had my old (1978) KEF R105s thoroughly tweaked---new wiring, transistors, etc.---now they sound almost as marvellous as the new ones, and I've spent hundreds, instead of thousands, of dollars.
The dominant system in my house uses a set of MB Quart speakers. They are rather large bookshelf models, boasting an 8 inch mid-bass driver and a 1 inch titanium dome tweeter. I believe the model number is QL 502, but I'm not sure. I have no doubts that these units give up a bit to the models that far exeed them in cost and size, but for our small, placement intolerant living room, they are quite impressive. I've lusted after the B&W CDM 1s, but what they give you in extra clarity and smoothness, I feel they give up in slam factor. I would hesitate to trade the MB's for any bookshelf that I know of. I'm holding out for more space (an impending move for our family), and the opportunity to get some floorstanding loudspeakers.
Currently, i have years old Apogee Centaur Minor speakers,, which was the FIRST high-end product i purchased. Over the ensuing years, i have accumulated better electronis up to Krell. I can honestly say that the Apogees were comendably neutral enough to improve with every change. I admire this quality and while they certainly are limited in bass..the rest in my small room...is exemplary. The only reason i would consider upgrading, is to acquire a speaker with twin binding posts, for bi-wiring or bi-amping. But, i dont feel any rush to accomplish this. I just wish Apogee was still in business. Thanks to Apogee for a great product.
Klipschorns! Forget so called horn coloration. Klipsch corner horns make you tap your feet, with real swing and dynamics. They have a few weaknesses but so does EVERY OTHER speaker I have ever heard. Maybe Steroephile should re-think their general bias against horn loaded speakers and spend some time reviewing them! (K'Horn owner since 1988).
I have embarassing speakers, Technics SBLX 50. They are 3 way speakers with 10 inch woofer, 2 inch tweeter, 4 inch mid. I admit, they sound like shit, but I'm a college student and can't afford high end yet. After school I dream to get a pair of high end loudspeakers and equipment, more than I dream of even owning a new car. A pair of Revel Salon's or Nautilus 801's are my dream.
Audio: A pair of Acoustic Energy AE-1 supported by a pair of Entec woofers. Imaging, Imaging! Video: PSB 600 L/R, 300 center, Alpha V for surrounds. Matched tonality and a Sony ES decoder make for good pans and dynamic range. Good dialog intelligibity. Office: 4 from RADIO SHACK!!! Yes! with those funky tweeters, an old Marantz 4 channel receiver and a wired remote controller. I hate to say this, but I spend more time in the office than anywhere else in the house. Listening to 70s CD while playing with the QS/SQ controller is fun! "Play that funky music white boy... WAHWAHWAH.... "
