So many, but I'd have to say Trent Reznor. The most influential person in music in the last 20 years. Other contenders include Jaco Pastorius and Victor Wooten.

Steve Harris—the bass player from Iron Maiden. He plays like no one else, along with being a great songwriter.

Admire is certainly the wrong word for what I think of Jimi Hendrix, Keith Moon, and Miles Davis—but they are the instrumentalists whose work I most enjoy hearing.

I give the nod to bassist extraordinaire, Danny Partridge (especially his work on "I think I love You") over tambourinist Davey Jones.

Drums. Not the typical audiophile response I'm sure, but rhythm is what attracts me to music. Being in the zone with a good drummer takes me to another level.

It's really impossible for me to single out one. In jazz that would be, Columbia-era Ellington drummer Sam Woodyard; in classical music, baroque violinist Giuliano Carmignola; in pop/rock, guitarists Larry Campbell and Charlie Sexton (they really do play and sound like a single being IMHO) in Dylan's Love and Theft-era band.
