Who is your favorite male vocalist?

Last week, we asked about your female favorite, so it's only natural that this week we give the men a shot. Opera star, singer/songwriter, jazz singer, death growl screamer—who is your favorite male vocalist?

Same as last week's answer: Sweet and simple—the one I'm listening to now is my favorite!

There are sooo many too choose from. But my favorites are Ian Anderson (Jethro Tull), Bruce Dickinson (Iron Maiden), and Rob Halford (Judas Priest)—who keep on giving the groups their distinctive character with their still brilliant voices.

Although he certainly doesn't have a technically great voice, I'd have to say Elvis Costello is my fave. He is expressive and soulful and can sing rock, blues, country, and pop. Plus he's a great screamer. Just check out Imperial Bedroom!

The metal god, Rob Halford. And before anyone automatically dismisses him because of the genre that he created, none other than Pavarotti himself was a big fan and said, "Halford can sing in any type of music."

When not ranting and raving like the "Life in the Foodchain" or "Amerika" days, Tonio K is a surprisingly good singer. He has a nice tone and can convey emotion well. I also really like David Alvin on Blackjack David. He has a haunting quality that really lends itself to folk/blues.

Jim Reeves. Near perfection, with warmness and smoothness that connects intellectually and conveys emotion without an overhang of melancholy.

Tom Waits. Some say his voice sounds like whiskey over gravel. Listen to his Early Years albums. This man is amazing. A truly fascinating performer. True old-school cool.
