If you say so...if it helps you through the horror of Tuesday, I am glad to help you. Your mental health is important to me
The horror of Tuesday?
Please.
I think you are projecting from past emotional trauma.
You know how much is gonna change, JIMV?
You "believers" will keep running from one side of the boat to other thinking you are steering something....
What will most assuredly change?
1. Pelosi will no longer be speaker
2. Reid will no longer be in the senate
3. New spending will stop
4. Gridlock will arrive
5. The country will rejoice
On the 3rd the move to fix the country begins and the drive to remove BoBo goes on Turbo...
Probably
Instead, a moron who calls for armed rebellion will be, maybe.
And then the real, deep, catastrophic deflationary depression will hit for real
While the country founders, and starts to move even more from first-world to third-world status, while suffering economic collapse last seen in 1932
Until it starts to starve. Then the real problems will start, and it will be the "Republicans" who destroyed the USA just to show they could say "no" some more.
In other words, you advocate absolute economic collapse, bigotry epitomized by your "BoBo" vilification, and "fix" as it means "neuter and destroy the future of".
Why do you hate America, jimv?
All opinion and strawman based on nothing.
Man, if only you'd been here 2000 to 2008!
We started the decade with a budget surplus, market strong, etc...
Now, you say we should rejoice over the reds coming back to power.
If you'd been here, you'd know what happened last time! YOu certainly wouldn't be hallucinating the joyous return of those who nearly did us in.
Which planet did you say you fell here from?
Rejoice?
That's "I need medicine" talk there, JIMV.
He's still stuck in the 1950's. Remember the last time Richard Nixon and his buddies in the congress brought the USA nearly to failure? Had nothing to do with Nixon's stupidity, or with his near-Brilliance in international affairs. It took Ford forcing a near-depression to save our butts. Then again, look at what half of the GOP did to Ford.

We started the decade in recession as a result of the dot com mess...it took till the mid decade and the republican congress to balance the budget resulting in paper surpluses.
The far smaller Obama win was loudly proclaimed a mandate and the rejoicing went on till mid March, months. I suspect this time the celebration will at least equal that...
when the issue moves from Obama's latest mind fart to dismantling his last crappy idea, then things will have changed about as much as it can without tar and feathers.
All that said, the joy will only last IF the republicans are seen to be doing what folk demanded, not bipartisan compromise with the socialists left in Congress but absolute opposition to those schemes and a serious effort to stop or slow or defund the excesses already passed.
I don't understand. Those organs are generally always in religious cathedrals and smaller churches. Are you saying to don't like these magnificent works of art and sound because they are associated with religion? Mainly, Christianity?
Are you being a Dumb Ass again?
Boy, are you delusional. The "republican congress" added more to the deficit than anyone else in history until that point, and then we have "TARP" which of course was a REPUBLICAN idea, that you all now try to blame on Democrats.
It's clear at this point that the republican party, if it was a household, would be bankrupt in 30 seconds, because then they couldn't mortgage their grandchildren.
So, you want fiscal responsibility? Better vote Democrat. That's abundantly and utterly clear, if you bother to actually study the facts instead of spew the nonsense your masters write on the slip of paper in your head.
Wow, polls have the Dems looking at below 190 in the House.
I wonder what the reds will do first....take away prexisting condition protection or enhance the ability to cancel someone's policy once he or she gets sick.
Any chance any of the "affordable health care for all" act survives?
All that will happen in the short term is a cessation to all new madness...No new spending, no new stimulus, no more TARP. Then the new majority will begin dismantling the HC scheme, bit by bit until what is left makes sense and can be afforded.
The public did not demand what we got. They simply wanted lower costs. That was Obama and the dems mistake.
They overreached
Cook sees GOP Gains 50 to 60 Seats in the House and 6 -8 in the Senate. I believe Cook (a dem polster but an honest one) is way too conservative. I would not be surprised to see 65 seats or more...If it is a really good day, the Senate also goes GOP.
Folk have rejected the Socialism, big government, corrupt vote buying scheme that has been the dems last 4 years.
I'm surprised there hasn't been more talk about the importance of Governorships and State Houses. The recent census has made Congressional redistricting a high priority for the next few elections. The last time this was done in Texas, the Democrats ran off to New Mexico and hid until Texans starting asking if we had to take them back. Texas is slated to gain 4 more Congressional seats in 2011 and with Perry winning a 3rd term and a GOP lock on the state house, you can bet they'll all be GOP gains. If you multiply that across quite a few states slated to turn GOP this go around, the net gains are going to be even larger and longer lasting.
Actually, this is bigger in the long term as it will result in over a dozen NEW republican seats for the next decade at the least.
If you had gone to any of the rallies by the folk that are making this happen, you would know I am right...Folk are mad and folk trying to define the dems in terms other than socialist are simply not understanding the political wave.
Yes, gerrymandering is something the idots at both ends of the spectrum seem to endorse.
Nice - shitty behavior is OK because it's your side doing it.
Now THAT is illustrative.
Since my choices are for the democrats to be in charge of redistricting or the republicans to be in charge of redistricting, I'm gonna go for the republicans. Did I miss a third option?
Yes, migrating to a country not infected with US political insanity.
And miss all the fun?
So, are the noveau-fascista crowing in delight yet?
What about them is fascist now?
I read last night that the national polling organizations are using the 2008 turnout model. Does anyone believe this years turnout will be the same as 2008?
If the same polling organizations used the 2006 turnout model with the same poll data, the numbers for the average republican across the country jumps nearly 5%.
What that means is that the actual republican numbers may be WAY underestimated...
The last time we had a similar situation was in 1994. The Republican advantage in the generic ballot was 7% at Gallup (today it is 14%). The polling organizations used the 1992 turnout model and as a result, the polls showed a republican pickup of 25-26 seats.
The republicans won 52...the polls screwed it up...
Today the numbers might be astounding.
I'm too classy of a guy to gloat and crow about this. I'll post a musical number to express my feelings instead.

You think we're stupid but we're not. We wouldn't be dumb enough to dance in the street. You were two years ago. Shall we go back in time? Shall we dance?

Da dada da!
Take that you commie heathens.
Dems are being routed (1051PM Eastern) with at least 60 House seats going GOP and, so far 5-7 Senate seats (looks like it will settle out 8-9)
I love the smell of napalm in the morning. Smells like,.....Victory!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6OnOvrTugiA
So we get 2 years like the last 2 years of Nixon, stagnation, inflation, and gridlock?
You want this? Are you really that stupid?
If you really think that it's "noble and American" to pull stunts like in Florida, where you get your own primary losers to deliberately split the democratic vote, well, then, you've made it clear you've declared war on the USA in a very real way.
All you nutcases reactionary revolutionists seem to care is that you make everyone else as miserable as you sorry lot are.
I think we'll see after you idiots take Crush Bimbo's call to "repeal repeal repeal" every week to show just how much you care for your own constituants. I wonder if we'll see any midterm recalls of some of your worst nutters?
Politico has it 60 In the House so far with more than 20 others too close to call making the final total look above 65...
They also see 6 Senate seats with 3 still being counted...2 of those 3 are really close and might be determined by absentees and recounts...
I have no idea how the write in went in Alaska as it appears a lot of folk made protest votes for nonsense candidates...
All told a massive win for republicans...
I am amazed Harry is still alive.
The polls had Angle up 4.7% on average, with some showing her up 15 points.
Turns out....the pollsters were only polling landlines and calling primarily during the day, which favors those who aren't at work during the day and don't use cell phones. Which must skew red.
Reid won by 5%....a 10% turn around from the RCP poll averages.
Sustek lost in PA, which is a bummer, but the rest all seems OK.
The reds blew it badly their last time in the majority, so let's see if they can do anything constructive.
Oh yes, the Tories. We deported those motherfuckers.
I will go out on a limb and predict Obama re-elected 2012.
I also predict the red guy who says his sole job is to foil the President will remain a firebrand until his polling indicates being a dick is not working and he will chill.
Just an aside...CNN is reporting there are still 10 House races too close to call and ALL are dem incumbents so any wins by Red gooses the House total..
Good call, David. There is a paradox here. We want "now, now, now," as you so eloquently summarize, but we also want infinite deferral on the tough calls at the margin. We want the late '80's-90's to defer into the infinite future. We want it not to matter if we die in debt. After all, that gets deferred into the vague and infinite beyond. "Now, now, now," gets deferred into the Great Forever.
It is okay to die if you are insured. What a relief. After all, weren't all those CDO's insured? No problem. Just let somebody else pay. I'm just dead, and all you other poor bastards, er, defer into the next "poor bastard" generation.
Many among our media have patronized their audiences, concerning the above points, by cursory mention. But, STILL, nobody has taken these phenomena seriously.
Great post, David.
Damn. Somebody posted you had drowned in the bathtub. Good to see that isn't true.
