Jazziz magazine and a UK mag (Grammophone?) often had CDs glued to their front covers. I think one of the classical disc was Vlado Perlemuter: Debussy and Ravel that I have. It said BBC Music Magazine on the back of the disc and the sound was very nice.
It makes me wonder about the possiblity of a one-time use subscriber code for 1 or 2 free high bitrate downloads for new artists who want to showcase the launching of their careers to the audio magazine of their choice.
The expense of attaching a full jewelcase cd to a magazine is not cheap. The high quality download makes more sense to me if it is workable.
We can only hope that some of the suits in the business reads your excellent suggestion
Mr Duck, I think you should write to the producers of the UK show 'Top Gear' and offer them a copy of those tapes and suggest they make one of US monster engines. They composed a version of the show's theme song using the engine noises of a range of cars selecting specific engine speeds to match the musical notes of that theme. Sounded hysterical. Me, I hate noisy engines but if I had to choose one to listen to it would be an Italian v12 - preferably a Lamborghini 'Espada' from the 1980's.
Nice show, I love to watch them. A Maserati or a Lambo would do just fine in my collection
For me watching it is a guilty pleasure. Despite the brilliant photography, endlessly amusing antics of the compares etc it does really encourage people to get out on the roads and kill themselves.
I haven't had the pleasure of driving a Maserati but I had a five month loan of a Lamborghini 'Espada' . Problem was it gobbled so much petrol it sent me broke and the police used to pull me over all the time, not to arrest me but to have a purve under the bonnet. Still, I got more fun out of my Mini-Minor 'Cooper' S than the big Italian number.
This is getting way to far off topic though.
No sweat!
