Breathe deep the gathering gloom,
Watch lights fade from every room.
Bedsitter people look back and lament,
Another day's useless energy spent.
Impassioned lovers wrestle as one,
Lonely man cries for love and has none.
New mother picks up and suckles her son,
Senior citizens wish they were young.
Cold hearted orb that rules the night,
Removes the colours from our sight.
Red is grey and yellow white,
But we decide which is right.
And which is an illusion???

You're one to talk about phony arguments A little knowledge in your case would be a good thing but alas you went around the bend a long time ago and never came back

PLEASE don't quote The Moody Blues in your defense. It only defames their good name and musical heritage being associated with you Geoff although the last word "illusion " does describe your products.

Leave the pseudo-intellectualizing to jj and Buddha, troll. If you wanna compete with jj and Buddha a little more seriously, I suggest you bone up on Zen and the Art of Debunkery. Then you can play with the big boys.

Kudos! I can't recall a more disingenuous, pseudological post. But a little knowledge can be a dangerous thing. There've been pseudological arguments "proving" that the holocost never took place, that we never landed astronauts on the Moon and that the World Trade Center attacks were not terrorism, but planned and carried out by our own government. The mind of the obsessive, determined pseudoskeptic is wonderous to behold.

Good one, geoffie, moving from Honor by Association to Guilt by Association. "So and so claimed 9/11 was a hoax, therefore, any argument against me is the same as claiming 9/11 was a hoax."

In a small sense, I salute your talent in constructing a phony argument - one that someone with no knowledge of quantum physics or logical argument and an inclination toward hysteria, cynicism and tweakabphobia might be inclined to buy into. A little knowledge can be a dangerous thing.

You can rant, but you can't hide, geoffie. I've made no arguments, only pointed out your array of fallcies used in your insultingly slimey attempts at hucksterism.

I'd wager I would rank above you in physics knowledge, but below you in dishonesty. Unless, of course, your use of the word "physics" is used like you toss around the word "quantum," then perhaps the specifics of your religion may be unknown to anyone but you. Belligerent, bar-code hating, phone-book phobic, plant-placebo, PT Barnum types who don't even own a Hi Fi can make up some amazing stuff....especially when they don't even have the ability to listen to their own tweaks! (That part is amazing.)

So, geoffie, use your time constructively. Step it up - off to Taco Bell you go and put in an honest day's work and get some gear so you can participate in a more positive manner.

David_L, you have geoffie worked up!

He moved right into his ad homenim mode and spewed song lyrics at you, called you troll....geoffie is in full retreat.

Keep asking him about his Hi Fi gear.

geoffie is so limited in his scope. I hope the best for him, but mom's basement can have almost the gravity of a black hole - - - to great for him to escape.

I'm not competing with anyone just pointing out YOUR flaws and stupidity which is EASY. Got that HiFi yet? Didn't think so. Keep listening to those voices inside your head then pal

Found a picture of Geoff in his younger days in his mom's basement. He was working on his Chain Smoking Tweak. The only thing that has changed since then is he's balder, fatter and crazier

posts like these are thread killers. Geoff does a fine job of making himself represented through his posts. No need to do it for him. Keep the topic of conversation on the conversation so that all can enjoy.

I loved the continued conversation on the elements of a theoretical argument and what makes a person's point valid and I'm sure there's still more to be said...

Ariel, those not familiar with Zen and the Art of Debunkery (How to Debunk Anything) might find the following excerpts pertinent.

As we approach the end of the millennium, science seems in
many ways to be treading the weary path of the religions it
presumed to replace. Where free, dispassionate inquiry once reigned,
emotions now run high in the defense of a fundamentalized
"scientific truth." As anomalies mount up beneath a sea of denial,
defenders of the Faith and the Kingdom cling with increasing self-
righteousness to the hull of a sinking paradigm. Faced with
provocative evidence of things undreamt of in their materialist
philosophy, many otherwise mature scientists revert to a kind of
skeptical infantilism characterized by blind faith in the
absoluteness of the familiar.

Rules for Debunkers

<> Portray science not as an open-ended process of discovery
but as a holy war against unruly hordes of quackery-worshipping
infidels. Since in war the ends justify the means, you may fudge,
stretch or violate scientific method, or even omit it entirely, in the
name of defending scientific method.

<> Avoid examining the actual evidence. This allows you to say
with impunity, "I have seen absolutely no evidence to support such
ridiculous claims!"

<> Insist that the progress of science depends on explaining the
unknown in terms of the known. In other words, science equals
reductionism. You can apply the reductionist approach in any
situation by discarding more and more and more evidence until what
little is left can finally be explained entirely in terms of
established knowledge.

<> Since the public tends to be unclear about the distinction
between evidence and proof, do your best to help maintain this
murkiness. If absolute proof is lacking, state categorically that
there is no evidence.

<> In any case, imply that proof precedes evidence. This will
eliminate the possibility of initiating any meaningful process of
investigation--particularly if no criteria of proof have yet been
established for the phenomenon in question.

<> Practice debunkery-by-association. Lump together all
phenomena popularly deemed paranormal and suggest that their
proponents and researchers speak with a single voice.

<> Ridicule, ridicule, ridicule. It is far and away the single
most effective weapon in the war against discovery and
innovation.

Cheers,

Cheers,

180 degrees off, geoff.

We are not debunkers, you are.

We are fine with the rules of physics and science. You are the one trying to debunk what others believe.

Nice flip, but you are wrong again.

Time to update the schtick!

Geoff's thinking is that you can start at either side of the protractor and it's all the same no matter what. Don't confuse him with facts.

It's a very interesting trick he does.

"I am here to debunk science but if you don't buy into my religion then you're a debunker of my debunking; making you the debunker."

I think he'd gain more traction by just being honest and saying he offers faith based tweaks.

Although, he sure seems to like to misappropriate science words in his sales schpiel, eh?

Oh, well.

Not a problem with my laser light tweak.

I welcome blind listening, public demonstration, potential debunking....you are not a troll if you question its effect.

I better start a new thread to handle the data....maybe geoff won't poop in it with his own advertizing.

Not really, he starts at 90 degrees, otherwise known as the 'i' axis, where i= (-1)^.5

Yeah, that's answering questions about your style of argument.

I guess you debunked us!

Hmmm, what fallacy did you abuse that time?

I guess I did, now that you mention it. We see through you like you were made of glass. You just have a more aggressive strain of the Machina Dynamica dis-ease than, say, jj.

The deeper you go,
The higher you fly.
The higher you fly,
The deeper you go.
So, come on.
Come on.
Come on, it's such a joy.
Come on, it's such a joy.
Come on, let's take it easy.
Come on, let's take it easy.
Take it easy.
Take it easy.
Everybody's got something to hide
Except for me and my monkey.
Your inside is out.
Your outside is in.
Your outside it in.
Your inside it out.
So, come on.
Come on.
Come on, it's such a joy.

Come on, let's make it easy.

Hey!
Come on..

Re: Update on the laser light room tweak.

Geoff, I have discovered a yet untried tweak for your Trutone Duplex Cover. Would you mind verifying that it works? You see you must lick the outlet using a LOT of spit so that the molecules saturate the electricity and that aligns the "power atoms". If that's not acceptable, then inserting two paper clips into the outlet and grabbing them using both hands works even better. Let me know the results soon okay?

Re: Update on the laser light room tweak.

So this thread has been Moved to the Dead Zone.

This thread kept going back to silly insults between members instead of intelligent conversation. I gave 2 warnings, and it didn't change. Next time, a thread like this will be killed much faster.

In the spirit of an earlier post, this thread turned into

don't let it happen again.
