Mackerras made some great HIP recordings with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment.

---
Some of the Mozart recordings he made with the Prague Chamber Orchestra are my very favorites. I haven't found another recording of No. 38 "Prague" that has the same qualities of flow, beauty of sound and an operatic quality. No. 25,28 and 29 match the platonic ideal in my mind for those symphonies.

The recordings of the Schubert 8th and 9th symphonies with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra are brash and rough but I love hearing them.

Mackerras was very much at home with Czech music and produced a number of great recordings with various Czech groups.

---
I never attended a concert where I heard Mackerras conduct. However, I'll be listening to lots of his recordings until I die.
