A 19 year old guy enjoying a mutually inductive experience with his 16 YO GF is one thing. Forced entry, regardless of age, is quite another problem.

Some criminals cannot be rehabilitated and I wish it were easy to determine who should never be released.

Pedophiles can't be rehabilitated. They should be executed.

If only it were that simple.
Death is an absolute punishment which can't be reversed.
Unfortunately our justice system is not absolute. It is very imperfect, as recent DNA challenges have shown.

Life w/o parole protects society and is cheaper than capital punishment.

Then there is the problem of what defines a pedophile. If the age of consent is 17 do we execute the 17 year old with the 16 year old girlfriend the day he turns 17 or should we give him a few weeks ?

Many statutes address this by requiring the older participant to be more than 36 months older to constitute a criminal violation.

The death penalty is as reversible as molestation.

Pedophilia typically requires the involvement of a sexually mature person and a prepubescent child, to use the term more precisely.

So, even a 21 year old guy humping his 16 year old girlfriend would not meet the criteria for pedophilia, even if she were below the age of legal consent in a given state. Then, the charges would change to 'statutory' laws.

Likewise, two 6 year olds playing doctor would also not meet the criteria for being accused of pedophilia.

Pedophilia has a terribly high recidivism rate, with some experts being of the opinion that there is a 100% rate of residual 'feelings of pedophilia' among offenders.

I can see why the government, not for want of being a nanny state, would want options to continue to protect the populace from some of these criminals.

I'll leave the kill 'em vs. incarcerate them argument for you guys to hash out.

Yes, many do (including Texas) but not all, unfortunately.

I agree that a pedophile (as you define the term) should be permanently removed from society.
It is hard to imagine any parent not agreeing with that sentiment.
Life w/o parole would do the trick.

Of course, most priests would be shipped off to another country by the Vatican thus allowing the majority of pedophiles to go free .

Yes, death is absolute. That's why it's called death.

It's only more expensive to execute when appeal after appeal at taxpayer expense is allowed.

The cost is around $60,000 a year to keep someone incarcerated. Thats $1.2 million minimum to keep someone in jail for 20 years. One bullet to the back of the skull works. Total cost? Maybe $3, even less if you use reloads.

A 17 year old doing his underage 16 year old girlfriend is not pedophilia. That's statutory rape.

A 35 year old doing his 9 year old neighbor's kid is pedophilia.

We both agree pedophilia is wrong. We disagree on the punishment. I'd rather have my tax mony doing something other than keeping a pedophile in prison.
