Sometimes there were "special forces" on those planes when they were playing concerts near a border.
When that started happening my friend left the country.
It is unfortunate that el sistema was at times misused there. That doesn't change the fact that it is a great program that will work here as well.

It hadn't occurred to me that there might be military on the plane. I liked the idea of military plans dropping of musicians.

Another story I was told:
Chavez was on live TV with 1st graders talking about the importance of school.
He misspelled a word and the Minister of Education corrected him........
On Live TV !!
Chavez laughed and made it into a joke but shortly after the Education Minister vanished.
