All those conservative books end up on the NY Times bestseller list no matter what silly crap people try to do to stop it. Even Ann Coulter, as crazy as she may seem, ends up on the bestseller list every time. And she is good friends with Bill Maher. Political punditry is an industry. The worst thing people can do is to attract even more attention to something they disagree with and can do nothing to stop. It is a waste of time and is like "putting out fire with gasoline".
enframed- Nice to hear from you again.
It's definitely worth a pledge. If it goes, I get a cool album for $20.00. If it tanks, I lose nothing. And I get to send an annoying link to all my Republican relatives. It's a win-win!
You bought an album because of a book you haven't read? Talk about contempt prior to investigation. You're out $20, somebody makes a profit because of a gimick, and the book still makes the NY Times best seller and in small part due to counterproductive anti-advertising you participated with. You win. We're fucked.
Just humor me, okay?
I am...
No profit involved. The project will go forward whether or not the guy gets the $3,000, the cost of the project, and the ceiling for pledges. Of course the book will make the best seller list, the intent isn't to stop that from happening.
And I've read and heard enough from Karl Rove in the form of political commentary. The only way I'd purchase this book is if an audio edition is released and it's sung by John Ashcroft.
Wouldn't that violate our "no torture" policy?
Think of the act of listening to such as self-flagellation based in a firm agnostic belief system.
Doesn't seem fair. He'll get a international best seller and we're stuck on an Internet forum. Maybe we can set up a Website to stop him. Maybe throw in some music. Ask for money. So we can stop him.
Make sure there is a beer money allowance in those internut funds collected.
That was a good one. But c'mon. Political activism and vinyl? Irresistable. If a Chinese patriot can stop a tank in Tiananmen Square, I can piss 20 bucks for an album and a "fuck you" to Karl Rove.
Good point
The record is out and available for purchase to help the producer recoup cost. No one is making money on this record.

Thanks to anyone who participated. For those of you who did, I have word that everything is being packaged up and will be shipping very soon.
If you participated pm me and I'll send you a link to the downloads. The album is quite good.
Here's a couple of samples:

Those cuts effing rock! Can't wait to play the vinyl.
Here's the account of Rove learning
"What a day
Showed up at 12.
About 15 people protesting Rove outside in the rain being pushed away
by security
that made me happy they were there
Waited in line surrounded by people having the most
disgusting conversations
'barack obama isn't a citizen', 'glen beck', 'liberals are idiots'
I got up to Rove and I think he was excited I was there
because I wasn't at all like the rest of the crowd
handed him the book
and pulled out the album
(which multiple employees tried to take away from me while I was online)
'can i take your bag'
so he signs the book
and I hand him the album
he chuckles at first and goes back to finishing signing the book
then he takes the album again
and i'm thinking
'holy shit, he's gonna sign it'
but then he turns it over
I see him scanning the back
he is reading it and he mouths the word "biggest asshole"
and looks down and reads outloud
'work of satire'
his smile is gone
and he says 'i'm going to give this back to you'
and him and someone else usher me away without taking a picture of the record."
So what sort of album is planned for the current thugs running our country and subverting our constitution. Do you even have a clue as to what's going on? Can you focus your juvenile attention span on some actuall issues and what their effects will be on your fellow citizens? This sort of sophmoric shit was funny when I was 15...most people grow up and realize the cartoon cutout whipping boys the media sells us aren't the real story. "Idiots" like you wake up a bit too late unfortunately. Good luck calling the government for help when your denied health care because you don't fit the protocol (never mind the bill you'll be getting taken out of your pay-5 yrs in advance no less). Need a student loan? Yup, make another government call..you know how efficient and helpful they are, right? At least your girlfriends abortion will be covered..she'll just have to wait for a late term one:O( Fantasy land must be great...enjoy it while you can oo
Geez dlb, take a deep breath before you pass out!
Yeah, he says "subverting the Constitution" like it's some new thing!
OK, alright, just let me...girgle girgle exhale..thump The camera pans out from an unresponsive right eye to expose a deceased dlb lying in the middle of a government run clinic (I was too old and too late or else I didn't pay my health tax) Just fired up over the ignorance that passes for intellectualism these days. Just envision the inevitable consequences of what may be enacted this week in Washington D.C.. I weep for future generations. Ah, to be young and stupid again...and immortal of course
No, just taken to a whole new level of subversion! See the Buddha, feel the Buddha, be the Buddha...I'm ok now, thanks
See, for example, http://www.stereophile.com/images/newsletter/1205Bstph.html .
While we are on this subject, I found Rove's statement that no terrorist attacks occurred on American soil during the Bush Administration's tenure curious. (See http://www.stereophile.com/asweseeit/470/ .)
John Atkinson
Editor, Stereophile
You are correct John. We must hold all of our elected officials to task. Playing sides only delays our demise at best. What discourages me the most is how anyone can disregard history and the lessons it holds for us! Do we really want to dismantle our countries framework and fork over all our human capital, control and treasure to the Government? Anyone remember how that's worked out for millions of people around the world before? If so, ignorance is the new intellectualism.
Rove's genius lies in telling his third of America's population what they wish was true, thereby seeming to make it true. Rove is quite an Orwellian disciple.
As for these tantrumizing juvenille white people hiding their racism behind 'teabagging'....
All these teabagger nuts seem to have been asleep until January 21, 2009 and now they are all up in arms about stuff they should have been up in arms about for the previous 20 years.
I have yet to meet an over-65 teabagger who hates 'entitlements' who is thinking of declining Medicare Part D benefits because they are an unfunded entitlement.
____________
To keep these discussions bipartisan, remember Budhha's Third Rule of Legislation:
The true intent of any given bill is the inverse of its name.
I.E.....Patriot Act, Homeland Security Act, Affordable Healthcare for All Act, etc...
They all do it, reds and blues. If we could just get people to look at their own party with the suspicion they use on the party they don't favor - THEN we'd be better off.
It took a boatload of progressive jihadists armed with nothing more than stale rhetoric, a poster child for the left wing candidate and a politicaly complicit media to inflict this bunch of power hungry working world dropouts on the masses. They are all about power and a rigid leftist ideology. If you like socialism, communism and totalitarianism, then this bunch is for you!
Jingoism.
So, if you want theocracy, creationism, "trickle down/supply side," false claims of WMD, "Mission Accomplished," natural law, warrantless wiretaps, etc...you must be a Republican?
"Socialsim, communism, totalitarianism"....bullshit.
Your life has and will change by exactly zero.
The only wounds the right wings nuts have taken are from the self-inflicted rush for ammo that raised prices.
Seriously, you believe that tripe?
Man, get a neuro check!
Clinton's best advice to his staffers was to just tell them, "it never happened".
That's the truth. I've had to buy ammo in bulk because idiots were buying all the individual boxes up. You still can't get a box of decent ammo. I've got thousands of rounds of ammo because I needed a few boxes and end up with cases. If my house every catches on fire they will have to evacuate the whole neighborhood. Obama is the ammunition and firearm salesman of the year.
Wow, all I can say is invest in Vaseline and get used to taking it up your ass with an even bigger one. I believe in words and actions and in historical precedent. This is not a game or an intellectual excersize...the events unfolding now are real and very disturbing. Many Citizens of Rome had similiar sentiments to yours...until the collapse of their Empire. People in power choose sides...the ones in power right now are on the wrong side of history. I choose the American people and their creativity and hard work....not that large bottomless pit of unsatiated control whores in Washington D.C.! FYI, America was founded on religious beliefs, trickle down works better than "fork it all over" economics, creationism has been dismissed, natural law needs no explanation, WMD were accepted by....hmm, let's see...EVERYONE (except in hindsite-which you should be good at) and don't even pretend you understand anything about intelligence gathering.
If only Shrub had listened to you!
The ultimate act of hubris here is that WMD's were presented as a proven entity, giving Saddam 90 minute delivery times for them, even!
We were also told of the enriched uranium, etc...
Now, we are told by you that 'everyone' believed this.
Why do you suppose 'everyone' believed this?
Because we trusted, oh, maybe, the President when he made the claims?
Suddenly, it's 'everyone' who made the mistake?
Picture the teabag frenzy that would erupt if Barry O told us the same sort of thing and it turned out to be as spectacularly wrong as Shrub's claims!
WMD's were only accepted because we never thought the President would make that shit up.
Yeah, in hindsight we should have NEVER trusted the guy.
dlb, you've slurped down way too much Kool Aid.
If you are a grown up, go look at your tax brackets from Saint Ronald's era and tell me why you weren't teabagging then.
This is all just a big tantrum from the nuts of the country who can't get over the fact that after 8 years of Dick and Bush vandalizing the Constitution and driving the economy into the dirt, it must be the past 12 months that did it!
Buddha,
I really owe you a great deal of thanks for dealing with the right wing BS some post here.
I am very lazy and, B/C of you I don't have to do all that work
I get to play guitar instead, listen to music , drink wine and enjoy my spring break.
Bro, I owe you, big time, if I ever make it to CES you get a bottle of Caymus.
That's called critical thinking...and it seems to be woefully lacking on the right. The savagery with which the Obama haters criticize him for executing the same economic recovery measures that Bush initiated in his administration is crazy.
For the record, I think they are all wrong, however well-intended. Wall Street has destroyed the national economy and possibly the world's with its short-sighted greed. The real estate market is in chaos and banking follows. As long as the principles get bailouts and special legislation to protect their thievery we will keep paying to keep a sub-class of traitors spectacularly rich, while decent Americans lose their homes, retirement accounts and ability to pay for health care.
It's a disgrace and both parties share the blame. But I have never seen the Dem's react to Reagan and the Bushes the way Repub's are vilifying Obama before he has had a chance to get his policies off the ground.
Do you think if we were attacked a la 9/11 today the right would throw their unconditional support to Obama they way the left did for GW? Hell no, they'd say he was Muslim terrorist who invited the attack. What peculiar brand of intelligence is that?
Ah, I remember the good old days depicting Bush a fascist or Hitler was just fine. Just go back into the time machine. Time started when Bush was falsely elected and check out democraticunderground for examples, moment to moment examples, the savagery against GWB you describe is happening to Obama. Obama is the best thing to come along for conservatism in a long time. The worst thing I've seen about Obama is him depicted as The Joker, which I posted and it was promptly taken down. That wouldn't have happened if it was GWB.
I didn't bring up WMD's. Bush didn't make up the global intel on Iraq. Congress saw all the intel and voted for the war based on the intel. Nice to have liberal hindsight, but that don't make it so. I think we desperately need a presence in the middle east anyway, so for me...WMD's or not it was the right call. Everyone conveniently forgets all the information on the terrorist networks we've obtained, the Al Queda leaders that have been silenced and the people that have been given a chance for something other than opression. Israel is the only bastion of light and hope in a sea of despair....we need to support them and help to stabilize the region. If you knew half the stuff that went on behind the scenes between governments during World War II, which enabled us to conquer that era's evil bastards, you'd have a liberal shit fit! Reagan lowered the effective tax rate genius. What do you think Obama will do with the tax rate, in addition to spending us into oblivion. What kind of person thinks that taking over corporations, demonizing insurance companies, loading up his cronies with pork, spending money we don't have to save or create jobs (watch it vanish into thin air) and apologizing for America is a good idea. So much wrong I could go on forever.
Why is that?
Keeping some bipartisanship....
Butler University Deems Chief Justice Roberts Too Controversial for Commencement Address
Bullshit, it's an honor to have the Chief Justice.
Last year, they had Republican Gov. Mitch Daniels, but that was regarded as a downer...
"Last year, I watched half of the audience cheer and half of the audience frown," the school's president told the Indianapolis Star. "That's not what someone's commencement ought to be."
Someone's commencement could be ruined by the governor showing up?
Sorry folks, these are perfect examples of people having accepted partisan idiocy.
It reminds me of the idiot fucking teabag types not wanting the President to give a speech to those fragile little Notre Damers last year.
Okay, we have tea-baggers and what is the movement called against the tea-baggers?
Ah, I remember the good old days depicting Bush a fascist or Hitler was just fine. Just go back into the time machine. Time started when Bush was falsely elected and check out democraticunderground for examples, moment to moment examples, the savagery against GWB you describe is happening to Obama. Obama is the best thing to come along for conservatism in a long time. The worst thing I've seen about Obama is him depicted as The Joker, which I posted and it was promptly taken down. That wouldn't have happened if it was GWB.
I'm not talking about ideologues from either party. You know, we gave Dubya a lot of grief for not being familiar with the English language, grammar and syntax- that was just fun. But we didn't call him the anti-Christ with a straight face, either.
p.s. You are a handsome Black man, Lamont!
I've always thought having bases in Iraq and Afghanistan is a big chip to put on the diplomacy table where strategy is concerned. Iran pinched in the middle and with the Mediterranean so is Syria. We already have bases in just about anything ending with "stan" as well as Turkey.
Not with a straight face. A very angry face. What I don't understand is the short memory the human mind has when it comes to politics. People absolutely beat the shit out of GWB. Bush did nothing about it. Obama supporters that participated in such sedition now want an actual sedition act passed in Congress. Can't have it both ways.
We had federal employees and their family attacked and assassinated just the other side of the USA/Mexico border and our President is off stumping some piece-of-shit health care package in what state today?
To steal from a previous conservative...
The Silent Majority.
America, Love it or Leave It.
Patriotism is cyclical, I guess!
You know nothing about me and how I vote or what else I do politically and/or socially in respect to this country's governance.
You are the one who apparently lacks an attention span. This thread is about a record aimed at Karl Rove's cowardice and deceit, not the courage he says he has. You are the one who changed the subject to Obama. Can we please stay focused, child?
Juvenile? Sophmoric[sic]? You are also the one calling names.
Your stereo probably sucks, too.
That was in Juarez. One of the most dangerous cities in the world. And apparently another good reason to hammer Obama. Might as well. I got angry emails when he put his feet on the desk in the Oval Office.
My sister is a courageous conservative Catholic, enthusiastic George Bush supporter and an English teacher. That was one long 8 years for her. She had to grade him on a curve to keep him in school.
Yeah, Shrub would have handled this better. He would have started planning the invasion of Canada.
Buddha, you sarcastic, witty mofo!
Damn it. You bought and read the book.
House would have a field day with that statement....
Actually I think he would have at least recognized the attack and make a attempt at avoiding pissing anybody off for 24 hours. Which reminds me? Does Obama meet with family members of those killed-in-action? I can remember Bush doing this on a regular basis.
FWIW, the U.S. had invasion plans for Canada during the 20s/30s. It was a curiosity on this side of the river, a little less so on the other.
s.
Another selective loon who hides behind his facade of pseudo intellectual cinicism. I don't hide or couch my beliefs...but it seems most of the liberal crazies around here do, like OFH. As I said, the record is juvenile and sophmoric. I'll bet you get your news from Steven Colbert and your stereo from Apple
