The M-Audio's optical output will be compatible with the Alpha's Toslink input.

FYI, I could never get my old M Audio Transit to work with Windows Vista. No idea how Windows 7 might work. Perhaps you run a Mac..
Have you given this fairly recent Updated Driver a try. Suppose to be good for 32 and 64 bit Vistas and Win 7. I'd be curious to know if you had success.
Ah Ha! No I have not. They used to have a Beta driver up that give my computer the "blue screen of death" whenever I plugged the Transit in.
I ended up getting a new M Audio interface, the Fasttrack Ultra, so I could record as well as listen to my computer on my rig.
I'll try the new driver with Vista and my old Transit. I'm glad M Audio has, hopefully, addressed these issues!
I just hooked up my Transit today and downloaded the new drivers for Vista... Works like a charm...
Note: I first tried installing the drivers on the CD which failed to install correctly... the updated ones on the website were perfect though..
