I've seen that site before... I might have linked it here in the past? Anyway, some of those TTs look like they belong in Anthropologie store or something. Some of them look more tasteful than others; I'm not a fan of "look-a-TT-as-gnarled-wood" aesthetic so much. But I love the DIY spirit.

Replinthing is a cool thing.

Imagine trying to decide between them based on sonics! No two alike!

However, Jethro Tull did this back in 1977, so it's not exactly a new thing.

Hi sd, didn't see your previous link, but good to know.

Since I live amongst the Redwoods on the coast, burl everything is a kitschy leitmotif of the trailer park proletariat. AND stick house dwellers, as well. Tourists go nuts for it .

But Scilley's "Barky" turntable was featured in this month's Metropolitan Home, which is kinda cool. I'm not a trendoid, but it's always inspiring to see vinyl ANYTHING in a major publication, especially one that has eschewed audio for its non-conforming aesthetic.

I'm also curious about the hemp speakers. And Scilley puts together affordable tube driven systems for his customers. In Oakland.

Maybe JVS can get over there and give him a look.

Among the TTs there, I'd be interested to hear "The Bachelor":

Vintage VPI-based, but the arm board is the Gabon ebony wood. If it's the true Gabon ebony, that's some seriously good wood. It sinks in water, like mpingo...

Love that stuff! My favorite is Barky for the sheer stoner, absurdity of it all. I might not buy any, but I'd rather see more fun stuff liker this than all the over built sterile stuff that is out there.
