Yeah, but now we've turned on ourselves, most of the country only accepts the realities of science when it agrees with their religious beliefs (creationism, anti-evolution nonsense, and some forms of audiophilia come to mind), and we're just busy burning up the little patch of planet we have now, to (*&(* with the future.

Here we go again with the religious intolerance of just another fucking bigot of a different stripe. As for your environmental views. Fuck them. You're one "little step" from the edge.

Son, what do you imagine my "religion" is, then?

Some definitions for you:

Religion - Requires faith
Science - Requires evidence

Quote:

As for your environmental views.

Ok, what ARE my "environmental views"? Care to try to tell me?

Edge of what, pray tell. Was that some kind of threat?

Yeah, I'll agree with that.

And we need it again, instead of people trying to conciously engage in willful treason by subverting science curricula into religious preachings... For instance.

So, Lamont, what is my "environmental" stance? What IS my "religion"?

What do you have to say to the fact taht the constitution was written by a group of men, some theists, some deists, and rather a few atheists, in order to protect the country from religions persecution in any direction?

What DO you have to say to the fact that crap like "intellegent design" is an attempt to decieve courts into abridging what's left of the constution after the righties and lefties are done with it?

If I had to guess you prefer your bedroom doesn't smell like feces after sex. Both religiously and scientifically.

This topic can make people testy. After all, it reminds us that the whole thing was faked from a soundstage in Texas.

Moon landings faked?

I've no idea 'bout that. I'm not anti-science, I'm anti-bias. I'm against the kind of bias that comes from a emotional origin. Bot Lamont and JJ appear to have an axe to grind in that department. Both have a valid point or two, IMO. Like we all have.

This is a forum, so we can't really get to 'the bottom of it' for anyone -or to anyone's satisfaction.

I poked around a bit, this is what I found:

Read this very carefully. 'Farrell' is the word-the place to investigate. The first 75 or so pages of two (or three) of his books are available from Google books as a preview. Such previews should make any honest scientist or physicist fall right out of their chairs.

Fake it, I dunno. But IF faking it...WHY? The answer is within. As usual, it would take some work to ferret such out. Outright Dismissal is easy, there's no work involved, just a pile of emotions that are headed in that direction -anyway.

http://jayweidner.com/AlchemicalKubrickIIa.html

That should wake your mind up as to the depth of the possibilities in the so-called 'faked' camp.

So, what IS this "environmental stance" you claim I have, now that you've calmed down a bit...

Which kind? General warming, or human-caused? The answer to your question matters.

Don't forget that the biggest effect of warming that you'll see first is greater instability.

There are two kinds of "global warming".

One is anthropomorphic, i.e. caused by humans. That is debatable.

The other is that it's happening for some reason, or none, but that it's happening. That's not debatable, it does appear to be happening.

In either case, the human race would be smart to understand what IS going on, and attempting some science, rather than politicizing it denying the obvious.

If it is normally occurring than it is no different than the Little Ice Age. Not much we can do about it.

Ah, yes, the appeal to ignorance.

Your statement, of course, is insane nonsense, since it will affect us, knowing the extent, effects, etc, are key to surviving as a civilized population.

Your silly throw-up-the-hands-and-give-up seems rather odd, given your beligerant position on other fronts.

And, of course, you have no idea if we can or can not affect it. You're not only arguing ad ignorantum, you're also arguing with facts not in evidence.

And that is exactly what we have. Wilder swings with the average/mean not changing all that much. BUT, massively wild swings where people are saying, "ain't never dunned that before!'

I think the warming trend as been going on for a long time. Yes, its hot. What is interesting when it is really hot you can check the history and usually find a day decades ago that was hotter.
