The dimensions of the original Cornball were worked out to use exactly one piece of 4X8 plywood. No more and no waste. That's audio engineering PWK style.

BTW the Cornball is (depending on how you view the dimensions) the second smallest speaker in the original Klipsch line. And, depending on who you ask, the second worst sounding. The LaScala and Belle are far better speakers.

I know, and that's too bad, it was a gorgeous speaker to look at. You have to admire any speaker named after the designer's wife and one that is both attractive and actually has the potential to sound half way decent.

But it never sold well since it was a dressed up version of the raw, nonveneered plywood LaScala - or the LaScala was a dressed down version of the Belle and the LaScalla sold for hundreds less.

If I ever got a hankerin' for a pair of Klipsch, I'd find a pair of Belles.

I wouldn't own the Cornballs on a bet.
