I've always thought that my Dual 505-2 was a pretty good sounding turntable, but when necessity forced me to change the interconnects,(crazy cat chewed the insulation) I did so with high quality shielded cables and the sonic improvement was remarkable. Not only was the definition and sound stage more prominent, electronic induced background noise is exceptionally quiet. Made me a believer in better cables.

Cat's probably thinking, "Finally!"

Nice recovery from the moment of "Must. Kill. Cat." to, "Hey! Sounds better!"

Congrats.

Now, set your cat upon power cords and let us know what happens.

Congrats! Been wanting to do this on my Philips 212 but the wiring to the arm seems so fragile. Were you able to solder this in yourself?

Actually, the biggest challenge was figuring out disassembly and reassembly without a service manual.(Took it apart wrong but reassembled correctly.) The wire ends have tiny spade connectors and I contemplated soldering them back on, but with the advise of friends I opted to keep it original for the sake of authenticity.

I replaced my wire from my Well-Tempered Turntable a few years ago- insanely thin stuff in the arm, but it was worth it. I also upgraded the RCAs and it all came out sounding great.

Many phono cartridges are sensitive to capacitance, and so the frequency response may have been changed.

Don't generalize from this to what happens at line level.

Be interesting to obtain a capacitance meter and measure them.
