You would put cosmetics ahead of sound??
No but I would simply not spend $20,00 on ugly speakers. I never liked the way the Salon1 sounded but I did like the sound and the look of the Studio1s although I still prefer my B&W Nautilus 802s.
Both the Nautilus 802s and the Studio1s to a lesser degree look like R2-D2 the android all of fame in Star Wars. They are not boring to look at. They are almost human.
it took me a while to like the new look, the cabinets are not as cool or as well built as the old revels across the whole line . but I will say that the new salons are the best speaker I have ever heard, regardless of cost. with the new speakers the baffle and rounded back end are nice looking in person, but where they dropped the ball was the super high gloss finish, it looks like cheap plastic! a real funiture grade finish on that mohagany would look much better, and make the speakers look more expensive. a friend of mine who bought the new studios actually had them custom painted satin bmw grey and the look way cooler.
