I like Kyung Wha Chung/Solti... should be able to find a CD of it.
The Mutter recording is superb, one of her better efforts, and the stereo version I turn to most. Ivry Gitlis recorded an equally good version for Vox, though the mono sound isn't as good, if that matters to you.
Rebecca Hirsch on Naxos is also extremely good, and Christian Ferras on EMI is also very good, but he's one of my favorite violinists and I like him in pretty much everything.

Ended up buying the Mutter, which is fantastic. The piece is as good as I thought it was. (I'm a fan of Wozzeck and the Piano Sonata, but that Perlman version of the Violin Concerto was really...bleah.) The fantastic bonus was the piece by Wolfgang Rihm on the same disc. Gorgeous, in a true 20th Century Expressionist way. Very reminiscent of 60's Ligeti. Must seek out more by Rihm. Any suggestions?
Now halfway tempted by Gitlis and/or Gertler for another version, but must remember that my wife is on unemployment and I can't spend my usual amount on music.... (maybe there's some reasonably priced vinyl on ebay...)
