Winer, Winer, Ethan Winer?

Pure snake oil.
(Just kidding, Ethan!)
In all seriousness, most people find them to be good investments, and there are certain people on here who will tell you all you ever wanted to know and much, much more.
traps and treatment in general= the biggest impact on your system outside of the speakers themselves.
The simple answer is that they really do work.
The more complex answer is that every room has frequency peaks and nulls based on many factors. Bass traps work over a limited frequency range that may or may not include the range that you want to absorb. It may even absorb a frequency range that is already a null frequency.
X a trillion.
After speakers room treatment makes the largest difference in the sound.
They are not a sexy topic and don't get a lot of press but you should check them out.
X the financial industry bailout number!
Amazing value.
This should not be contentious.
yes. people spend huge dollars on gear when the problem is the room. ethan's website will tell you all about it and even how to make your own if you do not wish to sample his fine wares.
I recently added some acoustic treatment to my listening/living room. They do work. Now I would not listen in my room without the treatment. To quantify I could only say that my wife who is not into serious listening was able to appreciate the improvement without any effort. Thanks to Ethan Winer. His website has all that is necessary for a good start. Also look in the Room Acoustics section in the forums.
Room treatments are things that make girls take their clothes off Having visited Ethan and seen the room treatments first hand, I think that they are one of those non-sexy essentials that would do more for your musical pleasure than any cable replacement or tweak ever could.
funniest thing i've seen on here ever. ethan never sounded better by the way.
Yeah, and, thankfully, his typing hands were tied up, too!
Maybe the greatest single marketing tool, ever.
Take heed, Stereophile!
Hey, I was watching LA Law re-runs on TV last night.
To vanDee, you already got all the right answers, bass traps really do work. And acoustic treatment usually makes more difference than almost any component in a system. There's a ton of educational info (not just sales blather) on my company's site linked under my name below.
