Very interesting. Do you have a link to the entire paper? I'd like to have a copy if possible.

Wow. That will definitely keep me chewing for a while.

The premise of this thread suggests that some are (still) arguing for SACD. I thought PCM/MLP (Meridian Lossless Packing), used on DVDA, was a more excepted "standard" than DSD/SACD. Is SACD making a "comeback"?

I like the theory that if SACD sounds better it, at least in part, is due to more careful production rather than the superiority of the media.

Scott, I didnt post with the intention of supporting DSD or any other format, I just did so because I thought that it was an interesting article.

I think it would be very cool to have a section of the stereophile forums devoted solely to reference material, white papers, and the ilk.

I agree.

Ethan posted this link on another thread: http://mixonline.com/recording/mixing/audio_emperors_new_sampling/index.html

It also talks about these differences. Its worth a read.

I'm curious why this was deleted??? I read it and found (what parts of it I understood) to be interesting and in no way insulting or commercialized...

apparently I posted a complete unauthorized reprint? though In my very first post I mentioned that it wasnt complete.

I dont reckon things have to make sense, but it sure would be nice if they did.

I guess Kal got up in arms and asked someone to bolo my post..

We can't reprint entire documents without authorization or giving proper credit. Links should be provided instead.

Kal had nothing to do with it. I made the decision to delete your post which included many thousands of words of uncredited text. We can't do that here.

Thanks.

I don't see this addressed in the FAQ, so to prevent future "indiscretions" , you may want to lay out the proper SOP for reference material. If this has been done already, I would like to know where it is.

Thanks.

Nope. I just wanted a reference since it seemed a little dated.
