Isn't that the device that also gave Bruce Banner his Hulk powers?
Please read my entire Nordost blog on the first page of the RMAF show report for information. More should be available at the Nordost site, since they have exclusive distributor rights. It's an amazing product. There is a small amount of quantum used in the Nordost Thor, but the Quantum units themselves have far, far more.
Do tell as I am unable to locate your referenced Nordost blog? Link please?
I have read they are so powerful one does not even need to plug the equipment in to them!!! Just being in the general vicinity is adequate.
There are also rumors of healing powers!!!
RG
I cannot find anything on the product.
Here is the show report however: Clicky
I feel bad for them if the product really works.
Very unfortunate name.
"Quantum" has become an 'alert' word in consumer electronics.
In general, one would have a 99%+ chance of being accurate when substituting 'bullshit' for 'qauntum.'
"Subatomic" is closely related.
So, when Nordost additionally tosses in the term "field generator," you can understandably see how a jaded audiophile might initially approach reports of its effect or effectiveness.
This is not to make any claim about this product. Looking back at the typical usage of those terms and the odds of there being an actual effect to go with the name of the product does give one pause.
Time will tell.
Does it interfere with the effect of one's Tice Clock, I wonder?
I'll wager that Mikey will hear it, rave about it, add it to his reference system, and then it will silently disappear from his reference equipment list 12 months later.
OK, cue the usual person to come tell me that they can't tell us how it works because it would give away valuable product information and that we'd go mad if we knew the real truth.
Hey, I represent that remark and would appreciate you refrain from name calling!

I'm gonna go have a quantum margarita and then look at their literature again.
Maybe I'll go have it in a 'cocktail field generator.'
From Wikipedia:
If anybody is NOT scratching their head wondering how in the name of flinging monkey poo this could affect sound quality, please enlighten.
Ain't this what PS Audio offers as some other magic AC line blinker noise changer, Quantum, does it all, don't they impress the heck out of someone? http://web.archive.org/web/20071012105137/http://quantumqrt.com/electroclear.htm#
My understanding is that at the quantum level (much smaller than an atom) pure potentiality or randomness is the norm. So the idea is that [these devices] can somehow tame this. The result of which would be "cleaner" electrons which, as the reasoning goes, leads to cleaner sound.
The big problem with this is that conventional(Newton/Einstein) physics does not work at that level. Gravity and electromagnetisim have no influence.
This means that whatever [these devices] are claiming, if true, would revolutionize quantum mechanics.
I doubt it.
Audio nonsense is it's own science. Far beyond anything discovered in reality. ByBee Circus. Amazing how these shows allow this junk to buy a space and display it. They have no shame, they got a room fee, so why would they care? This isn't just an audio show, it's a magic show too.
Two things come to mind here:
ONE: Do we really want anything emitting a "field" that can affect our audio system (which is encased in steel and heavy aluminum usually) and not wonder what that field would do to organic matter? WE are mostly electrical too and evidence is not good with any abnormal fields being beamed into human tissue (cell phones, power lines etc.)
Second: The actual quantum field, as shown by the Wikipedia citation, is so far beyond the normal realm of physics as to be effectively off the table for any consumer device to actually "do" anything to it, or with it. At the quantum level all normal physics breaks down and we get into an area most of us could not even call reality (though it is real of course). Our brain's can't even take in info much faster than light pulses faster than 120 times a second- and quantum particles come in and out of existence millions of times a second. Quantum particles are more the building blocks of reality than atoms or even parts of atoms. It'd be like trying to actually look at a computer chip by sight and say what is going on inside it. To us it looks inert, but obviously it's not.
Maybe it just spits negative ions into the air and creates a "clearer more open" environment?
Speaking of flinging monkey poo . . .
Off topic DUP. PS Audio' product is simply a tuned circuit that operates as a low pass filter, thereby removing higher frequency spuria present in incoming power.
Please take your anti-PS Audio bias elsewhere.
I repeat my comment from the show report:
"A name is just a name. I urge you not to get caught up in the language, or in arguments about the validity of quantum physics. Instead, please listen, and decide for yourself if a product does what it claims."
To that I would add that, while I am not sufficiently versed in quantum physics to write a coherent explanation thereof, I would certainly not trust the peer-written, anyone can contribute Wikipedia as my source for definitive information. I cannot tell you how many times I've consulted Wikipedia, only to discover at a later date that basic facts were wrong. The audiophile entry was a complete farce until one dedicated Stereophile reader took it upon himself to redo the entire thing.
I'm not citing Wikipedia in a formal publication or something. It's accessible and it is reasonably accurate for what it is. Cite an error or cite a better explanation somewhere and we'll go with that. So far, no one has offered anything better. WP is a great source for quick-and-dirty info, and I think it carries enough weight to be cited in a stereo forum discussion on quantum physics.
I liked the old terminologies.
"The new Galen GX4 affects the humors of the system, driving out the black bile and letting in more water. The phlegm becomes better balanced with the yellow bile...."
However, at least Aristotle and Galen were trying to describe something.
Quantum is one of those all inclusive BS terms.
If you don't buy it, then they toss back, "Well, you just don't know quantums like we do."
Who's to argue?
Nobody does know 'quantums' like they do!
Pardon me, time for a quantum cola break.
(Hey, that gives me an idea! "Quantum Cola." It works at the subatomic level in ways that only I understand...)
Quantum or not (which I think we can firmly posit it ain't quantum anything except in name), we just want a brief plausible explanation for what such a thing does. That's really all.
My own knowledge of quantum phyisics BTW isn't from wikipedia, although they get it right in this instance, but from a number of scientific articles and Stepehen Hawking's book, A Brief History of Time.
Their "fact" sheet. Entertaining read.

Yupper, same nonsense, different tag lines. I like the hold over, the more ya use, the better the effects. ByBeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee, made the same dumb claims. Like Ps does, keep adding on those blinking LED wall things, and it keeps making things better and better. New marketing angle, it sells more junk to dopes. This Quantum outfit has teh same wall thing that PS is harking........But nobody is selling replacement better sounding AC switches for all these components. AVA jsut did a test of magic wires at RMAF, comapred to $2.00 16 ga zip cord, after all teh guessing was over, it was all over teh place random, there is no difference in sound between teh $2 piece of SPT 16ga and some $1500 magic wire, sith sonic attributes, and now let's hear the reasons, o, his system wasn't revealing enough, the listeners were'nt trained listeners, AVA himself did it, no one of the group knew when or where a wire was or was not swapped, everyone got it all wrong, so stick to wire without magic, it's cheaper and sounds great.
Ethan can't tell the difference between AVA and cheap Pioneer.
I guess AVA sounds the same as the rest.
You've never heard them, yet when the AVA smokes Mc's, and very audible, amonsgst all our listeners, AVA is on to something good. For a lot less dough. The Mcs' where sold pronto, they sell quick, popular stuff, sonically lacking. Cool looking blue meters though. But if it's all about the sound, then it's AVA. When ya know what matters, ya understand it all, one day, you'll get it. Some just take a lot longer to GET IT. But when you do, you can thank me. It's all about sonic bliss, not nutty goofy tweaks and dumb wire ideas. When the confused start with the "all is not understood" about how we hear, it just means, they are baffled by reality....being baffled by logic and reality, is sad, it means, simply, ya just don't GET IT. Quantum mystery boxes, impress the fools.
Sorry guys but I can't resist. Since the marketing types like to makeup or recast words to fit their product here a are a few "unwords" in response:
22. ad-lab (**)
a. (v.) To invent the results of an experiment when one knows the results they got weren't exactly what they're supposed to be.
27. adjectize (**)
a. (v.) To describe thoroughly with an excessive, and often an unnecessary, amount of words.
44. airdirt (**)
a. (n.) A hanging plant that's been ignored for three weeks or more.
I know 44 is unrelated but "Thats funny, I don't care who ya are".
(**) I removed the pronunciation key because it was not displaying correctly.
I liked the font.

Behold the internals of a Quantum RT800 15 amp AC Line Conditioner.
It consists of 8 Hospital Grade Bryant Electric outlets (hidden behind the main body in the photo), the transformer and the black box on top of the transformer which has the magic quantum field generator.
When you turn it on, the black box makes a slight whirring sound (almost like a small electric motor).
As this is surplus to needs, worth stuff all and I have always been curious as to whats in the little black box I will risk my live and pop the sucker open, all in the cause of science.
If I dont repost within a day, consider me a goner.
And this box with some parts is how much? And it's not even wired like a pro did it, looks like a box of crap......wonder how many people they sold it to? What a bunch of nonsense....Quantum, of course, a whirring black box, emiting sound improving what? 21st century, vodoo still practiced. RMAF and Stereophile should be embarrased that such garbage is allowed to be on display with some actual real products. They mock you they mock you, while fleecing some fools.
RT800
$1000
Please note that this is potentially the previous generation model (i.e. doesnt have the shiny aluminium box).
So what was at the show might in fact work?
$1000 for a transformer and some outlets, hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha, yeah, teh Al box is the one that works, this one didn't? Ya know if ya get robbed at knife point it's a crime, but when ya just give your money away, to scams, there is nothing that is gonna cover your stupidity.
Ok, so inside the black box we see on one side of the board a small power supply that is used to supply power to the two microprocessors on the other side.
The microprocessors were potted in some "masking" compound that I had to scrap off, hence their motley appearance.
My understanding is that rather than inject the output of the microprocessors into the power outlets, the black box emits some harmonizing "wave" to the point that even electronics not connected to the device will benefit.
I report... you decide..
Hmmm...
I can see from the picture that this circuitry allows energy to change from one state to the next in a more ordered and coherent manner.
My headache is gone, too.
Thanks for the pics.
some people appear to like it:
expected the RT800 to be a contender, and it is. I
An audio goner?
No kidding! Let us not forget these choice words of praise...
It's an amazing product alright!!! A transformer in a box with a ckt board power supply going nowhere, into some chips that do nothing, $1,000!!! WOW, and this box makes undersized speakers do what full sized REAL speakers do...this is a magical rung up on magic wires, now it's magic squared!!! The Nonsense formula is revised into absolute BS X4. a reviewer with this writeup, is losing credibility real fast, now there are 2 MF and Jason, fiction writers, not reviewers. Let's see a measurement test on this JA. What you will measure? I have no idea, since no one knows what it does. ByBee used to catch bad electrons, now he is selling even less function. Is this a Class A Stereophile recomended item yet? Just in time for XMAS giving.
Stop it, you're killing me!

Its a global conspiracy!!!!!.
HiFi Plus in England just made the QX2/4 a product of the year.
I sent this letter in November 2006 to the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA):
Needless to say they never even gave me the courtesy of a reply.
--Ethan
You mean this stuff!! Funny, and he does it with a straight face, like a politician!!! Cool It's 7 PM, do you know where your demag is? http://www.bnettv.com/player.php?id=359&actionLogin=fail
Would the QX4 be better with fuses like this? http://www.furutech.com/items/Fuse-web-B.jpg
Before burning the witch at the stake, it might be worth checking whether the product under dissection is the same as the QX4 and QX2. It does seem to be from the same company, but it has a different size and shape. After that, it might be worthwhile for someone to take a listen. Those who have presented it with accolades have done so.
Jason, after all we have been through together, I thought you were my friend.
Such lack of trust in your fellow audiophile.
Now... who brought the matches....
As I did noted previously, I did state that this was a previous model (and still available) but the principle operation of it and the QX2/4 will be the same (especially the way the microprocessor and wave emitter work)
And who is to say that the insides of the shiny QX2/4 are also not as professionally detailed.
Also note I am not a disgruntled owner venting on the company (else I would have posted here years ago)
Is that a cryo'd AC connector? Surely if frozen connectors sound better, it would certainly make the better sound making device make things sound better, BETTER. Don't ya thin? We don't make the sound, we make the sound maker sound better. BAFS.. Bad Audio Forgotten Soon.
they should call the marketers and devotees of that thing the quantum bullshit generators
I am worried that returnstackerror ruined his unit by scraping off all the quantum goo on his memory chips.
It's the ectoplasm that does that does the quantum conversion, don't ya know.
Dr. Peter Venkman and Dr. Egon Spengler taught me that.
That's why Nordost had to upgrade their containment unit for this new model.
Notice those incredibly high end/tech push on terminal lugs on the AC conections. So this is the place that the external magic wires connect too, similar to any other device that you hook up some high priced junk, and it goes through standard push on terminals. But since audio magic is so strong, it by psses these common man terminals, and keeps the magic going onto the next stage. How retarded are the fools, who buy into all this crap? $1,000 for a box of parts, worth not all that much, it's QUANTUM, so you know it's helping. Does the FTC ever look into audio scams? As the credit card commercial asks "what's in YOUR MAGIC box"?
