I give up. I even tried to look it up. I plead ignorance!
Absolutely it is Thelonious Monk.
Born: October 10th, 1917 in Rocky Mount, NC
Besides that, it's his picture!
How are you jazzfan. Still pondering on that decision. One of my all time favorite lps, that I can not find anywhere, is "Gula Matari" by Quincy Jones. This man knows how to arrange and conduct, especially horns and the human voice. But, no one has this on cd. On the recently setup Quincy site, I emailed them, and got no response. Its amazing to me how hard it is sometimes to find great music.
