All too many unfortunately!
One of the most fun gigs I saw while at university (in the 'I never expected to like this' category) was The Boothill Foot-tappers. I ran out and bought their album Ain't That Far From Boothill. The second track on side two, Have You Got the Confidence For the Trick? was subsequently played every time we were on our way to a party. It has, to the best of my knowledge, never been released on vinyl (the tracks on Myspace sound like bad karaoke compared to the album versions ) You had to be there!
Another favourite album, Apollo Saturday Night hasn't either afaik. It's a terrible shame as this is about as good as live soul gets. Hearing a young Otis Redding singing Pain in My Heart will bring tears to your eyes. When he sings "Where could my baby be?" a voice from the middle of the audience cries "Right here!". Classic!
Garland Jeffries' "Ghost Writer."
Top of my list.
Good question- I can't bring to many to mind right away, but suffice to say many indie or alternative albums from short lived labels never got around to putting some of there albums, and esp. 12" singles or EPs out on CD. I find many jazz or classical LPs that I have never seen before in used bins, although that doesn't mean they aren't out there on CD somewhere. But that's sort of the thing, if you don't know about it, you won't look for it. That's what I like about perusing the bins- discovery. For some reason you find less to discover in used CD bins.
To the best of my knowledge, Quincy Jones' album "I've heard that" hasn't been released on CD. It's not considered one of his brightest moments, but I often spin it nevertheless.
Amazon has it in collectible section ...
Man, I forgot a biggie!
Martin Briley's "One Night With a Stranger."
A little Googling would seem to indicate a 1000 copies were released.

One thing I find is that although many albums have come out on CD, the packaging is not given the love the originals had. So instead of nice die-cut, or gatefold, or whatever nifty thing the graphic designs cooked up, you get it re-packaged as simple, much smaller, booklet. That's a real loss, regardless of the sound quality issue, in my book.
True.
I just don't consider it a proper "release."
A buddy of mine spent too much money for one and burned me a copy.
I even emailed his site and asked for info on how to get this on digital disc and they/he actually emailed me back and said, "No, you'll have to find one and make a copy."
Great power pop kind of album.
He's a little like Donnie Iris meets Marshall Crenshaw, with maybe a little Tommy Keene and Matthew Sweet here and there.
Speaking of great unreleased stuff, how about Tommy Keene's "PLaces That Are Gone?"
I haven't Googled that in a while. If you find that one, let me know!
OMG!
Man this is pop I was unaware existed...LOL
Seems there was a dozen year belated issue with some extended plays and previously unreleased material entitled "Songs From The Film".
Or was that the original title of the album?
Check out the used copies link. One seller asking a almost a hundred bucks!
Fun stuff!

Hey, RG!
The one bummer about the CD version of "Places That Are Gone" is that it's a different version than the original EP, and, of course, the original is always superior!
