I've bought about 5 albums or so from HDTracks. A good outfit and all the albums (all classical at this point) so far have been 5 star sonics and very good performances. Perhaps ironically I end up burning them all to CD... My music server/iPod connection is not yet up to par with my CD player, so for the time being, the discs will be the thing (when not vinyl, which is most of the time).
Cool!
I burned the tracks to CD as well. Frankly I find music servers annoying. I have a nice one but using it doesn't grab me.
Luddites we are.
Guys
Are we saying that the tracks once burnt sound better than CD ? better than SACD ?
Alan
They sound exactly like the CDs Chesky otherwise sells.
HDTracks is a bit misleading as a name for the downloads. They are comparatively high definition; they are not compressed MP3s. However, all they currently offer are full quality CDs. 24/96 is in the works.
