I like how it even says, the recordings are digital, then put onto the LP. What studio is using analog 2" tapes anymore. so when you listen to your distortion adding LP, with it's limited dynamcis, high surface noise etc etc, which was taken from a DIGITAL recording, what is the point of all this? Then you grind the sound off the plastic with a diamond tip stylus. Yeah, LP is so much better than digital. It doesn't sound better, it's super inconvienent, it's going backwards. Let's bring back the LEAR 8 track, it's so cool. When is someone gonna produce a wow and flutter unit to add to teh output of a CD or SACD player, to give you that LP effect. Throw in a few warp bumps too. $30 each, and out of the new wrapper WARPED!!! Yeah, it's a resurgence in crap, going backwards
When E.J. Korvettes is back, with it's music dept., then I will beleive it's back. And my 1971 Chrysler Imperial with white leather, in dash 8 track, 440 CI. 350 HP engine at 11 mile/gal...now that was living!!!!!
There are plenty of studios using analogue for one, and second I think we can assume the transfer of digital to analogue in a studio might be a little better than of a consumer deck.
Ever get a chance to listen to that Momofuku LP DUP? It sounds unbelievable, all analogue recording, very little mixing. Plus- most of the stuff you talk about liking was ALL recorded on analogue! Why take that great stuff and screw it up and digitize it?
That Momofuku LP is horrible, big disapointment. It's lifeless, non engaging. Elvis C. has lost his edge. And that's the one that's WARPED right out of teh wrapper, over priced crap. BIG disappointment. I have practically every Elvis C CD there are so many others that are better, his first album is best.
Oh my God! They sold a WHOPPING 1.3 million records last year and they project up to 1.6 million this year! If that's not come back, I don't know what is!
Both teh Rolling Stones Japan LP and Momufuku LP's are WARPED!!! Never got a CD or SACD that had defects, guess digital is even better QC making the mediums. My next LP adventure is on the Doors Box set of LP's. Sitting here, unopened, ain't had time to give em a spin. Let's see how that works out, that was pricey, the book is pretty interesting, cool photos stories
That's great news. Thanks for posting that.
Dave
Very Cool!
Thanks, Doug.
