I LOVE My Morning Jacket. Didn't get to see them on SNL, but they're fantastic live. Saw them at the Troubadour about 5 years ago in LA. Jim James doesn't even need reverb for his voice to sound so great, one of the best rock vocalists around now. My wife & I even considered having the song "Golden" as our wedding song but thought it would look funny if two young Asians were slow-dancing to banjo. On second thought, we should have f*&^ing done it!
I caught the end of it. But I have seen MMJ twice, and they are definitely one of my favorite new bands. The first time I had barely heard of them at a Birmingham, AL music festival called City Stages where I was infinitely impressed by Jim James's huge voice. The second time at Bonnaroo, well, I dont quite remember that show, but they did rock out so hard. I can't wait for their new cd, Evil Urges, to come out. I recommend there first album to any new listeners "It Still Moves" as it captures that 'we're a dirty band who records in a giant silo for huge, golden, and epic sounds.' Also, get add Okonokos, their concert dvd at the Greek in California, to your Netflix.
