Hi all im new to the forum and somewhat new to vinyl. I purchased a Thorens 166 MK II without the anti skating device. My question is can i rig one up, or do i need to track the real deal down? The only problem it is causing so far is that when i drop the needle it seems to "take off" in other words it jumps to the flat edge of the record. Thanks in advance for any advice

Do you mean it jumps out? That's strange because, iirc, skating force should pull it in.

Can you add anti-skating to an arm that does not have this built in?

Ah. That makes sense and probably indicates a need for anti-skating, especially if it jumps out of the groove.

Try this fellow. He rebuilds AR and Thorens tables. He probably has what you need.
