How loud? The Original Large Advent was borderline on their 15 watt solid state receiver.
My Pioneer SX-205 drives them quite nicely (I have no idea what the specs are for the receiver).
Prior to that, the Yamaha CA-610II amp I had also did well with them.
Either of those amps would have more power to deliver to the Advents than the Shanling can muster. The Yamaha would have been in the 35-40 watt range or higher.
If you're interested in a product such as the Shanling, I would suggest you research the natural speaker selection meant to be paired with such low wattage amplifiers. A single driver, full range or a slightly modified version of such a design is the most obvious choice. No or minimal crossover components in the way of the amplifier is the best route for flea watt power. With the resurrection of SET's and the emergence of T-amps, there are multiple choices in efficient speakers at reasonable prices. A DIY SDFR is very simple to construct and can offer sound quality with a coherence similar to the Advent sound but with an up to date driver technology. Such designs make that first watt count which is not something the Advent was good at.
Yeah- I have to say that thing causes serious object lust! I have absolutely NO need for one whatsoever- but I still wnat one BAD!
