"I heard a perfect echo die
Into an anonymous wall
of digital sound..."

From the song Natural Beauty on the album Harvest Moon by Neil Young.

Neil likes analog and is a detractor of poor quality Red Book cd, which he begrudgingly accepts as a necessary marketplace evil. He was an early promoter of DVD-Audio and higher rez formats. If all artists had his passion and if record labels cared about their audience, hi rez wouldn't be dying on the vine.

BillB- Can't wait to get my copy (above quote from a previous post). Neil has a ton of integrity and authenticity, IMO. Saw him with CSN at the Greek Theater (L.A.) after they played Woodstock. EPIC!

Yeah, I respect neil for his stand on good sound, from a musical/musician's standpoint- he doesn't have an automatic interest for or against digital, he just heard what it did bad to his music. Interesting how he has experimented with it, sometimes recording DDD in attempt to make the best of it - other times AAD, etc.

I saw Neil live once - on the Ragged Glory tour. The lineup: Sonic Youth; then Social Distortion; then Neil Young! Lordy, that rocked the universe, it was monstrously good.

BillB: Did you notice that the DVD is mostly shots of things rusting? "Rust Never Sleeps" indeed.

As I am over 100 years old (not really but sometimes it feels that way) I'd also like to mention that I saw Neil Young with Buffalo Springfield at the Fillmore in SF in 1967. That was a great live band.

yes indeed. I like the photos. I put it on while we had guests over - some of the young ones were a little baffled that a dvd had just still pictures.

wish I had seen Buffalo Sprgfld live, that's cool

" Sonic Youth; then Social Distortion; then Neil Young!"

Holy crap! How did I miss that one!??? Man- that IS a great lineup... Neil is still one of the oldest rockers to actually make some noise these days. Good for him hangin' with some crazy youngin's! Actually Johnnie Cash was pretty cool even at the end there too. There aren't too many guys that can age with such wisdom, grace and still be a little badass on the side...

Coincidental Trivia: Cash was so cool Social Distortion covered Ring of Fire.
