Lamont , I think you misunderstood the spirit of my DUPmas carol.
It was an homage to DUP and a light hearted satire of some people's reaction to him. (overreaction IMO)

I meant for still to mean boring but it had to rhyme with swill, since now, in the absence of DUP we are reduced to drinking (swill being synomynous with wine, so we have DUP wine in the absence of the real thing) in order to reduce the boredom that defines the DUP free stereophile forum (please , no flames, this is artistic hyperbole ) :-)
I completely disagree with DUP's ban. I think it was unfair and not evenhanded .
My whimsical posts have been in the spirit of keeping the DUP spirit alive.

Tom, with all due respect, I hope you see how laughable this is. You - and others - claim Jan has been just as disrespectful and instigating as DUP, then proceed to relentlessly disrespect and bait him.
At the risk of becoming just as hypocritical, I leave you now with that.
But , Erik, I don't think anyone should be banned.
I have only said that the banning was not evenhanded .
I don't want JV banned, I would like DUP unbanned.
I think JV deserves banning more than DUP , but that is relative. Any statements I have made about a JV ban are meant to be in relation to the DUP ban. I don't support a JV ban in an absolute sense and I am unequivocally going on record
Therefore I am not hypocritical nor is anyone else who is against the DUP ban.
After all, this is a forum for the free exchange of ideas and bad lyrics.
I support JV's right to post his opinions no matter how bad they are :-)
I not only don't support bans , I don't like BAN deodorant, so if you think my post smells foul, that may be the reason.
It's not the disagreement with DUP's ban with which I take issue, nor is it the suggestion that Jan had some responsibility as well (although I tend to see Jan as mostly defensive).
What is troublesome is this: Comments casting Jan in a negative light are no less negative than anything Jan has ever done on this forum.
I don't mean to say that I'm pointing a finger at you in particular because I think Alex's actions after the DUP ban were somewhat questionable, and there seems to still be some residual tension between Alex and Jan, probably as a result of Alex's recent thread about audio economics. I'm not here to take a side in their disagreement; I'm not a judge or jury.
I will say, however, that I think
a. DUP doesn't always get a fair shake
b. Jan likewise isn't always treated properly
c. SM and JA had good reason to proceed with the ban, as well as unfettered jurisdiction, and I fully support their decision, with no reservations.
You're entitled to your opinion, and I am thankful that you are light-hearted and gentlemanly while expressing it, or engaging in discourse such as this.

Erik, You are still a scholar and a gentleman, but you shouldn't try to exchange pleasantries with the DUPsters.
One of the hallmarks of the DUP era was the stifling, repetitive, monotonous boredom of his spam attack. His supporters, missing same, have now contributed more egregious volumes of criminally stupid and mind-numbingly BORING spew than he could ever have managed left to his own flimsy devices.
When you respond to them you get such gems as tom's racially cliched attempt at ebonic rap. Is there anything whiter or more clueless than that? Isn't George Bush embarrassing enough? I beg you...please (and now stay tuned for more of the same).

The ban on DUP is in effect, and it won't be lifted until the three months are up. In the meantime, I would greatly appreciate it if you dropped the teases and taunts. I think you're trying to be funny, and I've tried to keep a sense of humor about it, but I feel your posts are becoming a negative distraction. I feel that banning DUP was the right thing to do. If you feel obliged to portray a character that represents DUP in his absence, then I will feel obliged to simply send your posts to the Dead Zone. I will consider such posts to be a threat to the forum. I ask that you please stop. If you are so very much against the DUP ban that you cannot contribute to our forum in a positive, productive manner -- one free from distractions and teases against other members -- then I must ask that you please do not contribute to our forum.
