Can anyone help me out here?
Although fairly common on CD players it's the opposite for SACD players and I suspect why you have no responses, particularly with your budget. The only units that come to my mind are the far more expensive McIntosh MCD201, Accuphase and DCS. Hopefully someone else will chime in but don't expect us to do your homework for you.
Best of luck.

Thanks for the info rgibran, though I could have done without the attitude. Rather than expect anyone "to do my homework" for me, I was hoping that people with more knowledge of the available products could provide direction, which in my experience is one of the more valuable aspects of any forum. And in fact, that's what you did by pointing out that my choices for variable output are limited with SACD players (I had no idea, and don't quite understand why). Alas, I've also learned that some forum oldtimers are a bit too quick to judge the motives of newcomers, consequently putting off people who might otherwise help to keep the conversation fresh with new voices.
Best,

So I take it you're the obnoxious yuppy and I'm the biker dude? Okay,I guess that makes sense, though you really shouldn't be so hard on yourself--what you said wasn't THAT bad. Just shrug it off. Heck, this one's on me, buddy!
