Both are workable solutions. So it ultimately depends on which sounds best to you with the program material and volume you like. You have to listen and decide.
Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, I don't have the luxury of being able to audition the speakers. I could potentially with the swans, but the only way I could afford the Refs is if I buy them used.
So I was hoping there would be some sort of consensus on which solution is better for me. Keep in mind, my main priority is a set-up that lets me enjoy my music the most...

If you can purchase them from a source with a favorable return policy, if you absolutely hate them they could always go back.
