I hope so!
I just read As We See It from Nov. 1994.
Thanks JA! Gives hope to us poor guys that we can get High End equipment that we can afford! Of course it helps that you review "budget" components fairly often(like the Infinity Primus P 162 this month). BTW, I don't mind you reviewing expensive stuff that I'll never afford.
It's nice to dream and I'm sure there are readers who can afford such stuff. I'm not your only reader! You have a good balance; keep it up! P.S. I wasn't sure where to post this, sorry Stephen!

Great post!

Sorry to say, Stephen is a bit of a slacker. The November 1994 Forum is still not up yet.

If you keep reading, watch what happens in a few years when they introduce DSD/SACD....it'll really be incrredible. What's the weather like in 1994? I forgot was it a cold winter or did it warm up in 94? But don't buy teh first units as they will be extremely expensive, and in just a few more years, they will improve and be much cheaper. 2002 it gets really cool. Write when you get there. P.S. I'll be picking up my 95' JETTA at the dealer around Thanksgiving.

Yes, great post. I've decided to place it here, in the Entry Level forum, because I think John's essay offers a simple but excellent definition of High End, and, as you said, offers hope to anyone who might be interested in getting involved in the hobby.

Components primarily designed to meet the needs of audiophiles and music-lovers are worthy of the appellation "high-end," no matter what they cost.

Amen to that.

Stephen,

You still haven't address whether or not you were even a twinkle in your father's eye in 1994.

I don't think I was ever a twinkle in my father's eye.

My deepest condolences. I had no idea you were so deprived.
