That's a pretty tight budget for a new tube amp. The only thing I can think of would be one of the Chinese imports and that's even tough given the funds you have to spend.
You might check Audiogon for a used unit or put off your purchase while you save a little more money.
Unless you can find a stock Dyna Stereo 70 at that price, save your money. Tube power amplifiers live or die with their transformers. Quality transformers are not cheap.
Yeah that's about what I thought. I suppose I'll just have to save up, I just wish I wasn't so eager.
You obviously have not attended a Catholic school.
If you are handy with a soldering iron you can get Dyna transformers here:

and board kits here:

I have ordered parts from this company and got good service but I have not ordered these parts.
Hello Loop,
The only thing I know in that price range is the ASL
Wave-8. They are tube mono blocks that are no longer made, but you could get a used pair for under $300. They use a 6BM8 tube in a simple circuit. These will give you a taste of tubes for a small outlay of cash. If you can go $400 you can get a Yaqin MC 10L from Canada. It's very well built for the money, and uses the EL34 in a push pull circuit. It's a hard amp to beat for the money and Song is the most excellent person to deal with. It's just a thought.
