I second wkhanna's sentiments vis-a-vis audio quality, but suggest additionally having a look at Paradigm's range of in-walls.

Cheers,

Well, normally I also think in wall speakers don't really fit with quality either but...

"At CEDIA Expo in Denver last week, high-end audio vendor Meridian announced and demonstrated a new line of in-wall and in-ceiling loudspeakers, designed to allow high-end home theater customers to make their speakers invisible without sacrificing performance.

The active (powered) in-wall speakers featured were the model 350i ($14,000/pair as configured, available now). These were mated with Meridian's upcoming in-wall subwoofers ($TBD) to produce a full-range stealth multi-channel surround system for environments where visible speaker cabinets just won't do. Meridian has been perfecting in-wall and in-ceiling speaker designs for years and feels that with their new 200-series (in-ceiling) and 300-series (in-wall), they finally arrived at the point where flush mounted speakers can perform admirably against their free-standing peers."

Heheh- Oh, you said less than 2k or something? Well, a friend got his son some pretty decent in-wall recently and they don't sound half bad. I'll ask him what they were and get back to you. Still, those Meridian's sound pretty nice...

Maybe I'm stating the obvious, but if you type in "in-wall speakers, high-end" in Google you'll get numerous useful links, reviews, and probably other Forums with your same question. Discussion forums are great, but IMO it helps if you come with a basic understanding of what's out there before you ask your question. In fact, after some basic research you might come with a different question altogether!

As to your setup- maybe you really love the in-wall idea, but for the same budget I'd seriously consider going on Audiogon and setting up a new stand alone two channel system, rather than adding to what sounds to be a pretty overloaded system already. Plus you'd get better sound from something like that Oppo DVD/CD everyone is talking about than your carousel, and maybe a simpler amp like a NAD integrated would be more refined than the receiver you're using. My 2 cents...
