Welcome to forum, Mark!

Now.......not to be rude, but you are a little late.
You should have came here before you bought your speakers.

Any suggestions on what I should do? The Bose system is the Acoutimass 600.

Thanks in advance.
Mark

Put them back in the box, and take them back where you bought them, and plead, beg grovel and weep on your hands and knees for your $ back.
Bose are not very well respected among the 'so-called' audiophile group. V mediocre performance and a V high $ for the sound quality. You can do much better for the same $.
(Just my humble opinion, your mileage may vary.)
Others here will have sugestions on brands.

Best of luck!

Hi, Newbie!

Let's see what we can figure out.

Based on a clock face, if your volume knob has a marker, what "time" is it at zero volume? Then, what "time" is it at full volume, and what "time" is necessary for an acceptable volume fo your listening?

Next, be sure your tape monitor selector is off.

Then, check the different playback settings and see if the volume changes as you go through your selections.

Then, make sure your disc player doesn't have a "variable output" or "volume knob" in case this is set too low.

That should be a good start, then we can keep trying to help.

Welcome!

Thanks, Budda!
I should have been more helpful on the subject.
If he has some other speakers laying around, he might try hooking them up and seeing if the problem remains.

A couple of things.
First, did you change the speaker settings on your receiver?
You will need to change the speaker size settings on the channels that were driving the floor standing speakers from large to small for the Blose.
Did you have a sub before?
If not, did you enable it? Set the correct crossover frequency for it?
Did you use the test tone to balance the output from all of the channels?
What is the sensitivity specification for both your old and new speakers? You will need more or less power to compansate for differences in this value.
More volume control is not a problem as long as the signal is clean.
