Man! I'm really excited about the September issue now! Don't fail me now, Zinio.

I didn't think this was a good issue at all. In fact, I thought it was one of the "throw away' issues. May's issue was probably the best one. Alas, the August and September issues I think contain too much fluff.

Throw away an issue of Stereophile? That's like throwing away an issue of National Geographic or tearing off the tag on a mattress! I think it's even illegal or something.

It's all relative. Compared to the best issues of stereophile.

I thought this months issue was one of the years best. Lots of affordable stuff and relevant side by side comparisons of two affordable speakers in the Atom and Alpha B1....Nice job, guys.

Thanks, Monty. I am saddened that AlexO didn't share your feelings -- we work just as hard on every issue -- but your comments did warm the cockles of my heart (whatever they are).

This was a good issue. I always look forward to reading the new issues. I have learned quite a lot about things in the last several months.

John, I hope that you have more info scheduled for using PC's as servers, downloading music etc. That seems to be the way things are moving these days. I did notice that one of the Music labels has suddenly had an epiphany and realized the demographics of the market by suddenly attempting to cater to the Boomers. I will endeavor to support any group who is trying to serve me.

my, aren't we reader's fickle! if stereophile review 6 figure turntables & amps they are criticized for being part of the "lunatic fringe". if they review $150 dvd/cd players and speakers under $400/pair and, god forbid, onkyo integrateds, they are deemed throwaway issues! so where is the reader's happy point? last month the hot issue was "made in china". so shouldn't we be excited that there are some really excellent entry level products available to the novice or 1st time buyers from proven companies? i always find something in each issue appealing at the time i read it, and more importantly, a month or 2 later, when i go back to reread it in reference to another review or to compare what the reviewer is trying to say. i don't pretend to always understand all of the technical issues as i am not an engineer, but i enjoy them just the same. so all of you out there who whine about whats being reviewed...ask your friends what they want reviewed and see how they differ and then multiply it by the readership. keep up the wide range of audio products reviewed stereophile!

I second quadlover's thoughts!! You can't please everyone!!
As my name implies, I can't afford most of the products reviewed, but I'm not the only reader!!

If it will make anyone feel better, I know a guy who just bought 40 pair of the paradigm Atoms and stacked them in columns facing forward and back in a "bi-polar line array."

He spent the required 10 grand to satisfy his "audiophile" requirement, and actually went a tad over due to all the extra speaker cables and audio grade Blu Tac he used between the speakers.

It's amazing how much bass you can get from massed small woofers!

I'll try to get pics...
