Brian:

Glad to dee you decided to make the move. If your just interested in pure music stereo pleasure please let me recommend that you check out the Arcam Solo. It is a CD player with amplifier and tuner and sells for $1700. I have to say that the sound I get from this unit is nothing short of phenomincal with my Paradigm speakers and I would recommend it to ANYONE looking for great sound.

Rich,

Thanks so much for the advice. I will have to investigate this product, but it's hard to believe that this small integrated package will deliver the same performance as a component system. I did read the review on this site and I am truly interested given this price point. The specs on the unit are pretty anemic.

Which spec's are you referring to, watts per channel? I have the Paradigm 100 Studio speakers and they drive the hell out of the speakers.

No, not watts at all. More of THD, Intermodulation Distortion, Damping Factor, etc. And the THD spec was at 80% of rated power, most manufactures spec THD at full rated power. Based on the reviews, I suspect I would be very pleasantly suprised. I just might prefer to get components so that I can continue to upgrade pieces. I am interested in the Oppo DV-981HD.... any thoughts?

I have read that the Rotel RCD-1072 is a pretty good match with the Rotel's RA-1062 integrated amp. TAS did that review. Rotel and B&W are said to be good matches. -Z

I would use your ears more when looking at components and specs less.
