Short of putting good quality headphones on everyone present, I'm not sure how you can succeed in taking hi-fi sound out to the patio. Inviting live musicians to play - that would work, too. Seriously, I think you just have to be ready to settle for substandard sound reproduction outdoors. Maybe someone else can offer a better approach, but I know of no way - sorry, Cowboy.

Being outdoors will require more volume because of the absorbtion factor of the open space. The outdoors will first suck the high frequencies from your system. Next the mids will be effected but not as bad as the highs. The low frequencies won't care as much being non-directional. A PA type system will work better outside.
